I want to say something, even if it may not interest you xD
First of all... I like japanese cosplayers very much, but this doesn't mean, that "WHITE COSPLAYERS" aren't good as well. And very often they're very good.
And there are bad japanese cosplayers, too. But no one likes it to look at those. :P
But the most important fact is, that Rin is just a character, who does not exist. I think it's not possible to cosplay her PERFECT, because we're just human and it's not important if we're white or not.
So... this is my opinion and I added my deviantart side... Those who like my cosplay... you're welcome to take a look. :3

in my opinion good cosplay dont have to be japanese, but the person cosplaying has to have a bond with the character, just dressing up cause the look is cute and haveing no clue is not cosplay its simply playing dressup for carnival (i have met "cosplayers" that didnt even knew theyr characters name orz) i have many cosplayers in my circle of friends and none of them is japanese but they also do a pretty good job, keep it up^~^

This. Although to be fair, we just happen to see Japanese failplay a lot less often. They exist almost as ubiquitously.
That said, the convention in my hometown had maybe a handful of quality cosplays out of thousands of participants... lol.

Haven't seen much cosplay, have you? No headphones, bad material choice for shirt, poor sewing, leaves out all the little details that makes great cosplay come alive etc.
She's young so maybe she'll improve but right now that's only "in the ballpark" type of cosplay.
