As part of a wide ranging reform of their criminal code, Romania has moved towards decriminalizing incest, defined as sexual relations between family members.
Such reform will bring Romania in line with much of Europe, where sexual relations between family members are frowned upon, but not subject to criminal sanction. Under current Romanian law, the crime of incest is subject to a sentence of seven years in jail.
While the law faces stiff opposition, particularly from the Romanian Orthodox Church, the new legislation also has its fervent adherents.
“If brothers and sisters want to have fun, why should they be imprisoned? It is nobody’s business what I do in my bedroom,” said one Romanian man who favored the new changes.
The Romanian Justice Ministry also contends that incest cannot be stopped with “criminal sanctions, but with medical and social measures, because incest is based on pathological factors.”
Still the new legislation has angered some. “Incest should not be legalized. If they want to have sex, better to say a prayer and remember that God sees them,” said one Romanian woman. “I would castrate them.”
Another man said he was unsure if consulting adults should be jailed for incest but added “I think it is shameful all the same.”
Incest is a crime in the United States, though some states impose no criminal penalties for it. The UK punishes incest with up to 14 years in prison.
European states tend to criminalise only marriage, sex between adults and children, or having a child by a relative. Laws exempting family members from prosecution for consensual incestuous acts upon other adult family members are decades old in France, Spain and Portugal.
In Japan, incest is technically legal but is generally considered immoral. Still, such views of incest have not stopped the proliferation of media prominently featuring incestuous themes, whether genuine or fictitious .

I don't think that it should have been legalised. The reason is simple: if relatives had wanted to sleep together, if they had both consented, then of course no one would've found out and no one would've gone to prison. I don't think this was/is a problem. The problem is the fact that in the current situation, parents, brothers, sisters, anyone actually who is old enough to have learned the art of manipulation could talk a younger sibling/relative into sleeping together knowing the fact they couldn't get into (a lot of) trouble should they be discovered... Of course there are other things that should be taken into account as well such as offsprings because such mistakes are bound to happen (we'll hear more and more of abortion, naturally)... someone above said that all forms of love should be legal but it can't be like that. one cannot form a family with a relative unless they adopt so mainly it's about sex... and if all forms should be legal not only romania but all the countries would be making a lot of people happy if they legalized zoophilia or necrophilia, so why don't they?

I can see your point of view and I totally agreed with you. And yes someone above are so damn retard their head on don't think the consequences of incest and just agreed incest should be legal. And the consequences of those action are all bad and nothing good from it. Most country don't forbid incest for no reason and of course the are many reason behind that for our own good.
By your logic: if I kill someone and get rid of the body wiothout anyone noticing, it's not a crime, since noone will know. ok.
I was only hinting at some extreme and unfortunate cases in which love was involved (I mean not just for the fun of it.) if they were to believe they loved each other, it wouldn't matter to them if incest was illegal or not in the first place. it doesn't mean it wouldn't be a crime, but seeing as they both consented to it and made sure no one found out... they wouldn’t go to jail. Unfortunately, murder is serious business and I doubt it can even compare to incest. murder doesn't work in the same way, you still go to prison even though your victim wanted to die. Sorry, I should’ve written my opinion regarding every possible type of crime or at least stated that I was only talking about incest in this case – which was rather obvious. I’ll remember to do that the next time some wise anon passes by. :)
Maybe because their smart enough enoygh to realize fiction is a made up concept to make people feel better by limiting cosmic possibilities. Especially with the advent of the multiverse concept and evidence of it's existence in the form of gravitational anamolies that can only b explained as such. makes the concept of fiction itself fiction. I/E everything that can happen has is and will happen an infinite number of times especially f you expand the multiverse to tier4 levels which is part of the multi big bang theory thus making it statistically implausible for their to be cosmic limitations on concepts and ideas.
