The Xbox 360 dominates the Japanese market in terms of user satisfaction, if the results of a recent survey conducted by Famitsu are to be believed:
360 4.2 PSP 3.8 PS3 3.6 DS 3.2 Wii 3.2
Via Hachimaki.
It should of course be noted that the Xbox seems to have attracted certain types of gamer more strongly than others (for example, those interested in western games or Idolmaster), although it’s not clear whether this situation has persisted.
There is also some suggestion that Japanese users of the console are overwhelmingly male.
Also, the sales figures speak for themselves:
(figures in millions of units sold in Japan, circa the end of 2008)
DS 26 PSP 11 Wii 7.8 PS3 2.7 360 0.9
Perhaps Microsoft has a chance in Japan after all? Or is it too late for them after all?
Ive always been a playstion fan i have all the consoles but whn i got my 360 i realised i play that one more playstation only wins with the controler so #60 is defianetly better
I think once DX11 Direct X, well the program of it comes out I think it would aid game developing and probably more so thanks to OPCL(Open Code Langaue). I think it (may??) help the PS3 out for programming scalable multi-cores and beyond when devoloping games. Which means they only have to write algorithms once and not have to rewrite the WHOLE algorithms again for every 2 years when more cores augment 2,4, 8, 10, 12+, and focus on making a good game and fans. They can program it as it was single core instead of programing as it was a 7 core. Which makes it is easier(static/cycle if you ever programmed). Which also means people who were hesitant in jumping into developing on the PS3 may feel some relieve just a little bit. With PS3, has some new ties with NVIDIA in recent news (May 17-21?,2009) about something the Phsyx but that is only a “sugar coat” their is probably more than what the news headline addressed. CUDA, OPENCL, things under the table, something.
Oh I heard that PS3 has scaled from 65nm to 45nm with their processor. Yet I heard they close some plants in Europe in making the chips. Well I’m not sure what’s going on with Sony over at Europe.
