Ladies Hounded From Hanami for Wearing Kimono

enemies-of-the-people-wearing-kimono.jpg

A pair of ladies, apparently a mother and her daughter, thought they would take a commemorative photo under the blooming sakura at a Chinese park whilst tastefully attired in kimono, but were soon thronged by a jeering crowd who ordered them out.

The unhappy crowd formed about the would-be hanami-goers, who were both Chinese, patriotically shouted “Get out, Japanese!” and “Stop taking photographs wearing those!”

Cowed, the pair quickly moved off, changed to some less outrageous costume, and left the place.

A reporter caught up with them, and asked why they would do such an unpatriotic thing; “We just wanted to take a photo in the clothes, because they’re quite beautiful, that was all” replied the humbled pair.

A young lady who witnessed the ruckus remarked “Japanese clothing certainly is beautiful, but it’s Japanese isn’t it, so people who see it are naturally going to be offended. Those two were a bit strange, weren’t they?”

Via Heaven.

Taking one’s pet daughter for a walk, beating one’s errant wife in the street, or skinning and eating people’s cats may pass without confrontation in China, but clearly an act as foul as wearing Japanese clothing cannot be tolerated.

Sure, but isn't time to get over it after over 60 years? I mean: Look at Germany, they are friends with their former enemies and even allied with most of them in serveral treaties.

Way to go, China. And Korea, too.

OK, but this would be more analogous to hating all Germans because of what the Nazis did in WWII. And that would be bullshit. So is this.

First off, there is no such thing as a Japanese military as they are not allowed to have one, the US is their military as according to the Post War Treaty, all they have is a small SDF, Self Defense Force...So your comment fails.

Dude, do you really think the Chinese government would let the Chinese people fully understand or even know of Japanese apology statements? Id highly doubt. In their eyes, combined hatred against other Asian countries is motivation to make more Chinese people follow or comply with the governments actions. They probably gave a mangled version of it to the people leaving out parts, i bet about Nanking or the particular wartime atrocities committed. Can't say I'm biased either, I'm chinese.

I never understood why people need other people to apologize for something their ancestors did to their ancestors. Do they just want a reason to hate and fight? Those ancestors that did something wrong got what was coming to them. Hirohito fucked up and lost, and Japan paid for his evil, so why do China and Korea still ask for more?

@Those who said 60 years is enough

No it's not. Scars like this can last at least 3 generations, that's 180 years.

You cannot compare German to Japan, that's totally different, if you know anything about history.

    Reasons as follows:

    1) Jews victimized who lived in Mid Europe were nearly wiped out. There aren't many alive to hate.
    2) holocaust everyone, including German people knew it's wrong. Nazism is seen as evil aftermath and banned from public after the war. The German people all fell ashamed. Japan militarianism did not have this much cleansing. I don't think any Japanese was ashamed of what they done, and seen themselves as victim still after the WWII (the atomic bombing). This apathetic view is the seed of hatred bred between China and Japan.
    3) Holocaust everyone agrees it happened, who denied it get in to big trouble, like the Bishop who said it didn't. There are Japanese academic claimed the Nanjing Massacre did not happen at all. The scale here is totally different.
    4) There is someone to blame for in Holocaust: Hitler and his right hand men. For Nanjing Massacre? Not so clear. When there is no figurehead to blame for, chances are that people would blame the race instead.
    5) WWI and WWII are not casued by German people themselves. Adolf Hitler wasn't even German, he's Austrian. Hence it isn't even a race issue.
    6) All German military officers alive and captured were sentenced in courts for crime against humanity. I have not even heard of any Japanese officers sentenced for crime against humanity in the Nanjing Massacre

As Iwane Matsui had been judged by the Tokyo tribunal; Prince Kotohito Kan'in, Kesago Nakajima and Heisuke Yanagawa had been dead since 1945; Isamu Cho had committed suicide and Prince Asaka had been granted immunity by General Douglas MacArthur as member of the imperial family, Hisao Tani was the only officer prosecuted for the Nanking massacre. He was found guilty on 6 February 1947 and executed on 10 March by a firing squad. All the accused were sentenced to death in 1947.

You're able to say that because you're not the ones who was there when the Japanese started killing men, women and children with their bayonets, just stabbing them over and over again.

I mean, if that happened in front of you, what would you feel.

I'm speaking this from a neutral standing and just want you to know why the older generations feel such hostilities towards the Japanese and want you to stop being such an ass.

And I'm sure most of the people in China now weren't there either. Maybe there would be a few more if the Communist government wasn't so intent on slaughtering its own citizens.

When most of the people from the generation that lived through it are dead, its TIME TO MOVE ON.

The government is only pushing it so they can district the populace from complaining about the shithole they live in, and extorting "apology money" from Japan. Yea, what Japan did was wrong. And I'm sure there's a lot of stuff China did that's wrong too, before the colonial powers fucked them in the ass. Wounds won't heal if you keep picking at them.
