Fans may revile the Hollywood version of Dragonball, but it is far from the first attempt to adapt the manga; you can compare Hollywood’s live action versions from Korea and Taiwan below.
First, the Korean version:
The Taiwanese version:
Via a Black Leaf.
What a fine pedigree Dragonball Evolution enjoys.
The difficult question of evaluating the merits of these films, as well as those of the Hollywood version, is best left to you.

I can't get over the Korean Goku's hair...
Agreed.
At least Taiwan's Roshi was accurate; old & pervy.
it beter then USA V of dragonball then Korean V XD
yup... 99.99% accurate...
hollywood's should take taiwan ver. master roshi...
u can't blame them since it made in the 1980s
ive seen part of it it's actually not bad its basically cos-players filming themselfs acting out parts of the show (which is what we all really wanted the us movie to be if were honest with ourselves about it)
Russians have really a good word for all this - Pyzdiec.
I can't get over the Korean Goku's NOSE.
At least these didn't fail after pumping millions of dollars into production.
lols... millions of dollars...
AWESOME
This is exactly the winning formula that made Van Damme's Street Fighter a timeless legend.
Kimchi Bulma is cute.
This needs a poll between the three live actions. I vote Korean.
I haven't seen the hollywood version but
these ones are pretty laughable leaving trolling aside.
awesome i wish i had these growing up.
These adaptations really makes you think about if animes should really be remade into live action.(Blood: The last vampire not included, since it looks totally awesome and loyal to the original.)
The only thing blood is loyal to the original is the costume, settings and timeline. The rest make no sense.
Costumes in the Korean version look great (taking the year of production and probably low costs into account)
korean's ver so cute with all the plushie creatures~~ XD
hahahahha i must agree with you
still, taiwanese version has an awesome muten roshi rofl
Taiwanese Roshi won my vote actually.
...As best, it had been brought to my attention that I misread the poll.
I've seen the Taiwanese version when I was still little, it was good...
If only that version was made today, it would've had more spectacular effects.
The Taiwanese version gave me one of my first impression of Dragon Ball, and it still can remember it today...
wth!
I clicked on taiwanese without thinking
"Which is the worst effort?"
I read it at a glance as
"Which is the best effort?"
Yeah, me too. I thought it was "best" and clicked on the Korean version... It looks very fun!
OMFG! Did that too... Wish there was a revoke option
Crap! Same.
Thanks for pointing that out though...
...F so did I...should have known there was a reason why Hollywood was winning this poll...
bad poll!
Can't unsee...
i prefer unsee the hollywood wussies...
Yeah. Out of all three, the Korean version looks the most faithful to the original.
Yeah, that goku's F**KING NOSE !!
Is that "Taiwanese" version really Taiwanese? I thought that one is "Thai(land)" version...
No, it's Taiwanese...

lol both are as bad.except taiwan master roshi
I personally think both of these look friggen awesome. They look pretty entertaining!
I've actually only seen the Hollywood version, and I was raging balls the entire time.
If the Korean and Taiwanese versions are anywhere near as bad in actual movie as they are in looks, I'm going to have to avoid them for the sake of my heart, it simply cannot be raged that hard for that long.
I voted Korea though, because Korean Goku's hair just...no.
At least these try to be fateful to the original source material. Not to mention they are OLD and are marketed to kids, like it should be.
Indeed 80-90's era TV QUALITY back then in Asia
Some anime is better off with 2D.
Taiwanese Goku looks like Michael Jackson in "Thriller".
I bet the other non-hollywood versions followed the story alot closer.

Taiwan's is actually pretty cool. I want to see the whole thing the most; I've only seen a couple bits on youtube.
Captures the humor of the original reasonably well.
Incidentally there are two versions of it; the second has several post-production effects added.
wow the Korean movie looks so awesome. Plushie action!
Lol well, taking into account that they are almost 20 years old (at least the Taiwan one is... marketed in 1991 in US... they made a dubbed version... called Dragonball: The Magic Begins), can't really expect much from them...
Don't see the point of this at all. Which is the worst effort? Well if you look at it, the Korea and Taiwan's version was done like ages ago, and I mean ages ago. At least they got the characters down right. I bet if they redid it, it would be alot better now.
Hey I actually like the taiwanese one....
The Taiwanese Piccolo looked nothing like Piccolo, but he still looked great. More like some villain from a Sentai show. Well, if you think about it, most Sentai shows look pretty cheesy, too. Or Godzilla films. It doesn't have to be a bad thing. Only if they begin to take themselves too serious, as it is standard in Hollywood, is when the ball-busting effects start to come in...
at least the korean ver followed the manga
Taiwan's Son Goku looks like a young Michael Jackson
