A 2ch denizen shares with us the contents of his Strike Witches canned bread can (or can pan), bought at the Tokyo Anime Fair Gonzo booth.
Perhaps more amusing than the staple genre of “aren’t the Japanese odd for putting this into a can/vending machine” is the price – ¥1,500. Hopefully it tasted very good indeed.

Otaku collectible food cans?
I wanted to see Canned PANTSU. Not Bun.
Ask someone that owns a can to model it with sum pantsu inside of it, sounds good to me ;x
It does look good, actually.
indeed it does
It made me hungry
My first reaction to that image was "That bread probably tastes like ass." Then I realized what a bad pun that was....
Anyways, I haven't tasted a lot of good anime sponsored food in my life... and I don't think Gonzo bread is going to change my mind.
Have to agree with you there comrade. Although there have been a few good maid products.
Interesting. But it doesn't look very tasty to me.
You buy it for the can, not the bread.
That's right though.
Would make sense if it comes with Blueberry, Marigold and lamphrey oil flavours~~
Ew, what? Lamprey oil? Lampreys are disgusting.
why would we make oil out of a pokemon...
LOL!
What is inside the bread? Chocolate?
my guess is jam. it vaguely resembles http://www.oversizestudio.it/news_files/panettone-1.jpg , though the components are surely different. i'd try it.
I had some American canned bread product once before, and it tasted pretty bad (really dense and molasses-flavored). This looks a lot more appetizing.
Wow, $15 for bread? Even if it has Strike Witches on it, I wouldn't buy it.
I've eaten the Vampire Knight version it was $17
lol do they think anime-fans grow money on trees? and why on earth they put bread in a big ass can? oh lord, crazy people these days :)
No, but they do think that anime-fans grow money on their parents. And they're right.
Food stays fresh longer in cans and some people will collects cans like this.
Vacuum sealedKeeps the sunlight out
That's what keeps canned food 'fresh' for longer, a non-transparent plastic bag would do the same.
Doubt you'd want to vacuum pack bread though..
*cry*
Guess ordered list tags aren't allowed in comments :<
Well you could have done it like this:
Vacuum sealed:
+ Keeps the sunlight out
+ That’s what keeps canned food ‘fresh’ for longer, a non-transparent plastic bag would do the same.
Oh well since I already made myself look like a smart ass, the intention was more like:
1. Vacuum Sealed
2. Keeps the sunlight out
That’s what keeps canned food ‘fresh’ for longer, a non-transparent plastic bag would do the same.
Okay, I'm done now..
Blame me for not displaying the list of allowed tags, as it would just confuse 99% of visitors and cause amusing problems for the remaining 1%.
It'll be fun to see them on eBay in 10 years time, sold in mint condition.
Unless the apocalypse hits and that is the last remnants of food one owns.
That would only increase its value.
LOL, very true.
An otaku in a 'Fallout 3'-era? Hmm, I wonder what Japan is like in there...
pantsu survival
I would buy it
I would touch myself while I eat it.
A collectible lolz
I do not buy that can, the images that has are easily available.
I only eat tuna from a can and only buy bread at the bakery.
Ero Ita-Rice I would buy without much thinking.
Is pan really japanese for bread? Cause pan is spanish for bread, too.
pan (パン) is Japanese for bread, yes. It's taken from Portuguese I think, which has the same word of bread as Spanish I guess. It's much like how "arubaito" is from the German "arbeit".
quote for truth, it's taken from portuguese
Credits to Ferdinand Magellan and Friends.
It's pan in the Philippines too!
Id rather have canned USED pan(tsu) XD
Lol, packet marked DO NOT EAT.
That packet is probably Silica Gel, used to keep moisture out of the foodstuffs.
pan(bread) in a can?
Japanese sure have their creativity on making money.
It's a new a way to make money off otaku. I would like to buy one and see if the bread is nice or not.
Delicious lolis make delicious (canned) bread :3 *drools*
Ah yes, that one day in ozani lol, I wanted freakin jam but no, seeds and strawberry something, damn vampire night bread.
Q: If it's called "Can Pan" in the store, what's it called after you eat the bread?
A: "Can Nopan"!
^_^; lol srry I couldn't resist.
My face contorted into nerd rage after reading that.
Orly? I though it was a fairly witty pun and made me lol.
LOLOLZ!!!
That was really punny!
