100KG+ 2-Metre-Long Tumour Devours Woman

gigantic-chinese-tumour-1.jpg

A woman with a gigantic tumour growing from her thigh, two metres long and weighing over a hundred kilos, is unable to move from her bed even as the tumour slowly rots and festers.

The woman (48) began feeling a pain in her left leg, which grew to become a gigantic sarcoma, now so large as to preclude movement and requiring her to eat several times her normal diet to fuel its inexorable growth.

gigantic-chinese-tumour-2.jpg

Parts of the growth have hardened or festered, resulting in the variety of hues visible.

The tumour started growing early in her life, at around 17-18, and gradually grew, so much so that in 1983 she finally managed to have it amputated.

However, barely a year had passed before it returned, growing rapidly to the size of a fist. Seeing that it appeared to have stopped growing, and having little cash to pay medical expense, she simply ignored it.

All was quiet until three years ago, when it suddenly began growing again. Soon she could not rise from her bed, such was its grotesque bulk. The growth impeded circulation to her leg, and soon it began to fester.

According to her husband, she is small and frail, weighing only 35kg, yet she eats twice as much as her husband, all to nourish her thriving tumour.

She lacks even the money for a diagnosis however, so precise details are lacking. Donations from friends and family, along with the labours of her husband, are all that keep her fed.

With surgery estimated to cost at least $30,000, they have no chance of accumulating the funds. Using the Internet they have begun to accumulate some funds, but are a long way off an operation…

At over a hundred kilos the tumour may very well be the world’s largest, with previous gigantic growths apparently “only” managing 50kg or so.

Via Heaven.

Leaving severe medical problems to grow into catastrophic ones over decades seems to be a pastime peculiar to the Chinese of late. We have seen any number of similar cases, and even a few with (relatively) happy resolutions

Well no, it's the result of festering due to cut off blood circulation. No matter how bad your hygiene, you're flesh won't fester like that as long as the tissue is still 100% alive.

Seriously, there's probably barely any circulation to her legs. It's called gangrene.

Exactly right. That is gangrene on her legs, and when it gets THAT bad, they are going to have to remove the legs along with the tumor.

Seriously, stupid shit like this shouldn't be happening. This is the main reason why every country in the WORLD needs a nationalized health care system, for cases like this where the cost of NOT doing anything vastly outweighs the cost of doing something to help the person in question.

    IT'S ALL FAKE.

    Signs:
    a) look at her face, specifically complexion and skin colour: HEALTHY
    b) hair's healthy
(these being the two things to go bad first with any illness, even the flu)

    c) gangrene doesn't come in radioactive green. NOTHING except acrylic comes in radioactive green.
    d) 'tumor' looks more like some sort of dead seal or walrus body part
    e) it's got skin on it, for gods' sake! NOTHING BUT SKIN TUMORS CAN HAVE SKIN ON THEM. Anything internal that size would burst through the skin, not grow skin.
    f) that thing, being 3 times her size, would overload liver, kidneys, everything... see a) skin colour for indication that this is not the case

And China isn't Nigeria... It MIGHT leave citizens without medical care or abuse them otherwise, BUT its government has a tech- and science fetish so big it simply couldn't ignore a 'curiosity' like this. Sure, they might use someone like that as a lab rat or even dissect them, but IGNORE them? Yeah right...

You'd wonder why no physicians, surgeons and/or researchers have showed up there yet out of pure scientific interest. I mean, if you were a medical professor and heard of this, wouldn't you go to great lengths in order to investigate this? Or is this actually a well known medical phenomenon and thus no one cares?

Seriously. And even if it's just an abnormally large tumor and the operation is cookie cutter, you would figure doing it for free or covering most of the cost would get you enough publicity that you would never have to worry about clients again.

    Then again, this is China.

Exactly. a) Cost? What cost?! Government-sponsored research, hello? b) Having grown up in a Communist country myself, I could believe a government *kidnapping* such a person out of morbid curiosity and in the name of science, but ignore them?

    HOAX.

scientific interest is probably alone not enough. you need a very good publicity on that case to make the world leading experts to consider that case. but, the pacient beeing a poor soul from China, that wont happen.

That what happens when you leave genes with abnormalities, such as seen few news below about a boy with 2 penises, live and spread. Now, I'm not being like Nazis and saying everyone is flawed, no. I'm saying, that an OBVIOUS abnoralities, wich posess OBVIOUS threat to normal life of a victim shoud be cleaned at an earliest stages. That boy with 2 penises will grow, have a child and then his grand grand child could have some mutations or just great problems with his health. Also if this woman have children, they could possess the same risk.

    Sorry if I offended someone.

Wouldn't you agree that finally implementing gene therapy on a grand scale would be a much better solution? It's not like we still don't understand enough about genetics to at least try curing genetic abnormalities.

Besides, you would have to kill a huge portion of humanity (definitely more than 50%) if you want to eradicate all genetic anomalies that could or could not lead to tumor growth...

What induces aberrations in the genetic structure? The cause is not limited to conginetal defects. They're born normal, but its the exposure to genotoxic chemicals which could be the reason...

Environmental assessment needs to be done at where she lives. Might be an illegal dump nearby...
