Orgy Arrested in Roppongi Group Sex Bar Bust

roppongi-sex-bar.jpg

A Roppongi bar which offered patrons the prospect of random sex with strangers has been closed, with six patrons being arrested for public obscenity in flagrante delicto, having had the misfortune to be preoccupied when police raided the establishment.

The bar, called “Juwel Kiss”, in addition to drinks provided sex toys and other accessories for the comfort of patrons, and promoted itself with a blog detailing the previous night’s action.

The establishment’s initial downfall came when neighbours reported the comings and goings of many people other than the apartment leaseholders, prompting police to investigate.

The sex bar, of a popular type known as a “happening bar” (or “happu-bar”), charged a registration fee of ¥12,000 for men, ¥2,000 for women, and ¥6,000 for couples. This paid, members could attend sessions for anything from ¥1,000 to ¥10,000.

The orgiastic club had some 120 members, and was said to have accrued ¥2,000,000 in approximately three months of operation.

However, they also apparently allowed non-members entry at times (in order to spectate), and for this reason police found they could charge everyone involved, relying on a technicality: as there were non-members present at the orgies, the event was deemed “public”, and being that sex in public is illegal, they could all be charged with public obscenity.

Police arrested six guests (aged 27-53) on charges of public obscenity, and the manager (43) for abetting their crimes. None denied the offence.

It seems the apartments of Japan conceal all kinds of illicit enterprises, who more often than not only come to police attention through minor infractions…

Excuse me, but if this was a private bar..... what reason would the police have to raid this place?

This case is going to be thrown out of court as soon as the courts realize that this is coming perilously close to dictating that public = in any establishment even if they WARN YOU that it might have sex related stuff in it.

Precisely, these *Private* Bars aren't posing a threat to the public at all. Absolutely ridiculous.

More excuses for the Japanese Government to make political gains. V_V

read the report again please? There were non-members present.. meaning the club was open to the public. Any business that is open to the public is legally a public place, and public sex is illegal. Assuming that the club was properly licensed as a brothel, it was legal for the members to be there, but the club violated its license by allowing non-members to visit the club and witness the content publicly.

Cheaper prices for women mean more of them and less men. Would you go to a club with 3 women and 20 men?

Well... I must say that this level of exposure and exhibitionism is far more than I can handle. Though I will admit to being very curious about it.

This 'bar' seems to have been established inside an apartment complex? How then did it count as a public space?

In Malaysia, a similar occurrence are the 'Sex parties' where someone books a hotel room (typically a penthouse suite) and then organizes a get together. Apparently these events are put up on places like Facebook and Friendster.

Everyone chips in for the cost of the room and away you go..

That's what I don't understand. If YOU decide to invite someone to YOUR place, it's YOUR private choice to do so, and that someone's private choice to accept the invitation. If I invite, say, a fellow student to prepare for some exam, my place suddenly becomes public space in Japan? It shouldn't even matter if I know the person or not, if he/she decides to accept my invitation, how can my apartment/house/whatever suddenly be considered public? I don't get it at all.

Yeah, basically the police freely admitted to the people not actually breaking the law, so they invented some bullshit about private residences being public.

And then they wonder why the public think the police are untrustworthy fuckwits who don't do their jobs.

That's typical... It's to entice more women to come by offering a cheaper rate. In general, men are more likely to attend events like this than women are. Therefore, the discount applied for women. It's pretty typical for establishments such as these...

Obviously you've never gone clubbing. Besides, women can basically get it anytime they want. So unless she's a hose beast, there's no need to join such clubs.
