In all honesty this would probably be a kick ass action movie if it wasn't dbz. Change the names of the charecters, the title and the dragonballs, since they're origin in the movie is completely different and tell me that this wouldn't be a great action movie.

Just like Final Fantasy the spirits within. that was a good looking movie with a decent story, but it's just NOT final fantasy

The movie itself looks like it would have been okay if it wasn't a bastardization of Dragonball. None of the characters are recognizable, or act anything like the actual characters. If I wasn't specifically told it was a Dragonball movie, and if the names were changed, I would not even be able to tell it was meant to be an adaptation. That is not a good sign.

When is Hollywood going to learn that when you adapt something, the only people that will come because of the name are the people that were originally fans, nearly all of which will be pissed off that everything they loved was changed.

Hollywood, please, just cut your losses. Change the name to something else, and release it that way. I'd actually go see it that way, but as it stands I won't watch it on principle, just like the Chun Li movie. Just call it something else, and all of this drama will stop, and you might actually make some money off of this.

Am I the only one realising that this looks like an ordinary gay LA fighting movie with the same moves as always and characters not reminding of dragon ball at all?

It looks worse than I expected.
Now matter how you look at it, the result is an C-class american action movie. The fight scene is especially lame.

It is just like Jackie Chan said once. No matter which actors plays in, an american action movie looks american, a chinese one looks chinese.
With Sayuki (yes I mean the manga and anime adaptation) this is the worse adaptation from the journey to the west. (Not to mention an insult to Dragon Ball)

I better keep waiting for the next volume of the Journey to the west written and drawn by Chen Weidong and Peng Chao.

There was not nearly enough of Roshi asking to see Bulma's panties in that meeting.

They made a movie which is so bad that you HAVE to watch it. We all fell for their marketing technique.

After this It's even harder to accept this as an part of the Dragon Ball series. But I often has a hard time accepting dubs so It ain't that surprising after all.

Will give it a chance to prove itself though.

i'm not a fan of DBZ, not in primary school, not in high school, not in college, not now, but i know a lame, hackjob, try-to-milk-the-cash-cow-one-more-time movie when i see one. BUT, i am going to see this movie with friends (rabid fans no less) just for the lulz.

Shouldn't they have used Japanese actors??? What's with the Americanization of characters? This brings me back to that Street Fighters movie way, way back.

Whatever the case, my friend, who is a HUGE dragonball fan, says that this is nothing like the original story.

Even if it is supposed to be a new take, I do believe they massacred the franchise...
