A middle school teacher who beat four of his students found himself promoted to vice-principal only the month after he was forced to apologise.
At his new school, he then so traumatised a girl with his harsh words to her that she refused to attend school and began harming herself.
He was found in early 2007 to have slapped at least four schoolboys in the face, prompting parents to make formal complaints. The teacher was subsequently given an oral reprimand by the local city board, and apologised in person at the homes of the students he assaulted.
Deeming that he had secured the understanding of the parents, the city board did not bother to report his actions to the prefectural board, which proceeded to promote him to vice-principal of another school shortly after.
The prefectural school board excused itself: “We’re still checking the facts, but it seems likely we would have refrained from promoting him had we known at the time [what he had just done].”
Having finally found out about all this, the prefectural assembly is criticising those concerned: “They do not appreciate the gravity of this (illegal) corporal punishment.”
The teacher caused another incident when he moved to his new school. There, at the end of 2007 he told a third year middle school student “You’re just a nuisance”; the next month the girl dropped out of school and played truant until the present, for over a year.
She was also said to have begun engaging in self mutilation after the incident.

WTF is this SHIiTe?!?!?!
"The prefectural school board excused itself: “We’re still checking the facts, but it seems likely we would have refrained from promoting him had we known at the time [what he had just done].”"
Checking the facts? If he had raep'd any of them (or something close to it), he'd be in the can, no promotion w/ a 50%+ chance of gettin' it in the showers up river. Send this abusive douchebag-of-a-teacher packing!!!
How did it go again? Zetsuboshite?
I think that would be "zetsuboushita" (絶望した), my (yet) limited knowledge of Japanese grammar says "-shite" would be something akin to imperative.
I recollect that he says zetsuboushita, though other than that, I don't know anything.
Must say! I enjoy this kind of news.
It is to my belief that a teacher should only apply physical punishments under extreme circumstances with out knowing what exactly happened I dare not make any assumptions. However many times a teacher will go over the line and apply punishments that are completely not suited! A student can’t learn by excessive use of force or trough humiliation! That will only generates unstable behaviours and psychological damage which will lead to future problems. The fact that students today abuse the good will of some teacher is do people who fail to teach properly and instead scarred them for life the student will see this “good teachers” as nothing more than prey to relief there psychological pressure by constantly interfering with there work.
But enough of that…as for the girl. What ever lead her to do such actions mitt or not be involved with that teacher. I’ve taken in to consideration the fact the phrase “You’re just a nuisance” couldn’t be properly translated to English anyways from what I said so far you can probably imagine what my deduction lead to still I dare not say. For I know not all the facts.
Sorry about my English been a while since I wrote something
just one more level to go 'till principle. keep it up!
Now, this is stupid. Frankly, any person who raises a hand to a child (unless that child is trying to kill them) is unworthy of even LIVING on this planet, let alone being promoted in his job!
These are the kind of people who are the worst of the worse (many times worse than even pedosexuals) because their actions linger with the children forever.
Gotta disagree there. When i was a youngun, a good swift smack to the ass put me right back in my place. Thats how i learned right from wrong. I wasn't abused by any means, but i learned (real quick) what sort of behavior was acceptable. I can say (with pride) that I knew how to behave in a public place as a young child. None of that screaming temper tantrum shit that you can find in any supermarket, restaurant today.
I dont know if i really agree with kicking a junior, high school students ass. But then again, maybe they needed a good ass kicking.
Waaaah some body called me a nuisance, im such a drama queen im gonna cut my self. Maybe she wanted some more attention.
Kinda reminds me how normal that would be when I was at school. Thank god I finally don't have to go to school anymore..... =)
Promotions!
The girl cut herself because her teacher called her a nuisance? She must had other issues too.
Not really - it's hard to translate but what he said was a lot more brutal than it sounds here - more like "Why the hell do you even bother coming here!?"
2ch was far more scathing of his remarks than his actually hitting anyone...
The fact that translation sometimes fails even by the hand of the more almighty ones doesn't excuse the fact that the girl is a psycho anyway. I've seen, and listened, to preachers like that in school from time to time, but noone ever reacted like that. Also, if she was that much of a fail student, i'd rather stick with the teacher. And, to be as much honest as i can, i'd also like to discipline myself some bad students i saw. Then again, i'm still young, i'm not a teacher, i do not know all the facts behind the fact we're talking about, and i read way too much GTO and other mangas to be able to express a non-violent speach.
the fact that his words were the straw that broke the camel's back is significant. Not to mention the fact that guys like him shouldn't be teaching anyways.
the girl is really emotional and take things way too seriously. just kuz the teacher says you're a nuisance, you going to cut yourself? that will lead to suicide sooner or later
I guess she's yandere.
well said lol
Heaven forefend that a fifteen year old doesn't have the emotional maturity of a thirty year old, especially when a very important role model in a young adult's life (their teacher) lets loose with something like that.
Sure, some who were already predisposed to verbal abuse could probably take it without batting an eye, but some people are more emotionally vulnerable than others.
Girls are too damn emotional period?...
... that's just messed up. :/
Your parents should have beaten you, maybe you wouldn't be such a neet.
WTF this is so random.
...but I lol'd.
I made it to MIT, I make $30 teaching piano, and am going to prom with a guy. So much for calling me a neet.
Way to fail.
I was proving that I was not a neet. But your definition of neet is the one that I have no reason to be ashamed of since I'm a minor.
The fact that you're seeking recognition for your 'accomplishments' on a board such as this would be a good start.
Says someone occupying himself with random attacks on said person?
@Anon: Way to wrongly assume things. I used to wear glasses and I'm from an otaku family or I wouldn't be here.
Sure. Be scared of everyone different from you. That'll get you far in life.
excuse me, are you one of those people who goes to prom because you're very pretty and have lots of friends? do you also make fun of people like me who wears glasses and dresses different than others? do you make fun of these kind of people to look better in front of others? if so, i am afraid of you.
i say goodbye. i scared of you. bye bye.
This is hilarious--
lol.
My best guess is you're too pretty to be a NEET.This is my sole opinion and doesn't reflect to each single individual in this forum.Everybody's Got Opinions, anyway.
"am going to prom with a guy"
She goes to school, she is not a neet.
Facepalm @ GourmetPrinc and Anon.
No. He is right. You're a neet.
Apparently some people don't know what "NEET" means.
Oh pish :P I have too much of a life. What's not to be proud of?
This just goes to show the wonderful community we share here at Sankaku! ^_^
You say it like you're proud of it.
Get out.
You keep using that word... I do not think it means what you think it means...
Someone is confusing NEET with something else.
little bitch Anon
LOL Anon what a way to try and bring me down. My real name is not Mimi. And I couldn't care less if you hate it. Boo hoo.
You're only exacerbating your level of failage.
LMAO
Masterful troll is you Mimi!! (what a fucking retarded name anyway)
Anyway, cool story, brah.
i honestly don't know how you could keep your "boyfriend" if your this pissy....unless hes a masochist
by the way i quoted boyfriend cuz i honestly don't think you have one, theres no pic and timestamp so its not real
Anon's troll fails outweigh word fails by far.
Word fail lol
Why is the grammar of this post so much worse than usual?
learn 2 english
When you mention it and after taking a closer look it seems a bit weird than usually. Especially because I couldn't access the webpage for over a day somehow.
Examples.
To me, the first paragraph just doesn't read smoothly. And I think both instances where you used the semicolon are kind of awkward. But I'm not an English teacher, so you could be using them correctly. It's just the use of that punctuation seems forced.
As for the article itself, these kinds of educators are the worse. It doesn't even sound like he was disciplining them, not that such a scenario would justify physical and/or verbal abuse of students.
Thanks for picking up the typo. The sentence is correct, but the fact that people may not be reading it smoothly suggests it is not optimal, and could use a rewrite.
See what I wrote below regarding what he said - it was much more extreme than it sounds when rendered into English, in fact it's the kind of thing teachers explicitly tell children not to say to each other...
I found this particular post easy to read and understand. The only mistake I can spot is the lack of the word "to" before the phrase "have beaten", in the first paragraph, first sentence.
You might be confused by Artefact's writing because he uses complex and "long period" sentences (I don't know the exact terminology for it). I like that sort of writing as it is usually more laconic and descriptive.
About the topic:
>>There, at the end of 2007 he told a third year middle school student “You’re just a nuisance”; the next month the girl dropped out of school and played truant until the present, for over a year.
She was also said to have begun engaging in self mutilation after the incident.
What? The student is surely a psychopath, you can't just self mutilate yourself because someone called you a "nuisance". The teacher shouldn't be blamed about it.
About the slaps I am not sure,I can't really tell who is justified if I don't hear what the students did to deserve the slap.
We have come to the exact opposite from what the educational system was decades ago. From teachers beating with the slightest reason a student now I see more and more violent behavior from students without being punished (violently or not). I am not so sure that this sort of trend will be good in the end. We must find balance between physical and psychological violence (or lack of them). This situation is getting out of hand.
So was it missing the word "to" or was the sentence right in the first place and I am wrong? English is not my mother language so I am asking out of curiosity and educational reasons.
Yeah sorry I saw the clarification after my post. My opinion is still though that even with the worst kind of lexical abuse a person shouldn't be THAT frustrated to the point of self injury. Of course the teacher has no excuse but the girl needs psychological attention/help.
On another note, was the site down for a long period of time (some hours)?
What's wrong with the grammar?
