Virtual idol Hatsune Miku has finally secured her rightful position near the top of Japan’s national music sales charts, coming in at number 2 on the daily album sales charts thanks to the efforts of group/circle Supercell.
Supercell’s debut album “Supercell”, containing classics like “World is Mine”, “Melt, and “Black Rock Shooter” (below), sold 20,000 copies on the day of its release, triumphantly seizing second place in the best performance yet by a Vocaloid in the traditional music markets (as opposed to their undisputed dominance over Nico and the like).
Their fame is chiefly based on freely distributing their music videos/songs on Nico and YouTube, as well as providing mp3s, demonstrating the effectiveness of a new model of music promotion.

Black Rock Shooter:
World is Mine:
Love is War:
You may also recall Supercell recently received two figure adaptations of some of their iconic artwork: Black Rock Shooter and World is Mine…
The album itself is of course readily available.
Via Oricon, the organisation responsible for many of the top sales charts in Japan.
With the carefully manufactured image of traditional celebrities scarcely any less virtual than the likes of Miku or Luka, might not the future hold more of these entirely synthetic idols? They hardly need to be anime styled either…
love this digital bitch lol MIKU FTW!!
I see this currently as more of a fad than something sustainable. The group buying the CDs is probably in large part different from the usual market for pop albums. Given more time the novelty will wear off, as while the songs are catchy, the voices still sound a good deal artificial.
I could definitely see a “Sharon Apple” in the future in Japan, though.
But Hatsune Miku is actually voiced by Fujita Saki.
So…
Ah, I don’t know anymore.
didn’t the developers just take voice samples and go from there?
I can has “Love is War” Hatsune Miku figure?
can anyone kindly post the romaji version of all the tracks in the album?
