A T-shirt bearing the likeness of Kurugaya Yuiko,of Key visual novel Little Busters, has just been auctioned off for an impressive ¥1,300,000, in what must be one of the most expensive pieces of otaku fashion in recent memory.
Naturally, it is signed by Hinoue Itaru, of Clannad character design fame. And of course it is moderately risque.
The T-shirts were apparently being given away as a cheap prize at the Key tenth anniversary event…
Via New Akiba.
What might the owner have got for a Kudo T-shirt? We can but wonder.

A fair price!
for a fair T-Shirt!
for a smexy T-Shirt!
It's bringing smexy back!
Do want
I'd like to see someone on here buy one. Cuz I doubt anyone would at that price, unless I'm underestimating everyone's roneryness.
>unless I’m underestimating someone’s fucking awesome dedication.
Fixed that for you.
indeed
I don't get it? Why?
Because they have no real girlfriend to spend money on. As all guys know no matter whether they're 3d or 2d females use up money like a fat man eats cake.
Think about the fat men, who also have to by cake!
But... The cake is a lie, isn't it?
With 13 grand you can surely buy those awesome Japanese sex dolls which are magnificently crafted.
He wants to spend money, okay, but why spend them on a useless autographed t-shirt than can be found anywhere (well, without the autograph)?
Cuz he fucking can. Rich cunts buy $13,000 handbags all the time. At least this shows a touch of class.
His money, his purchase.
Also, it's all a matter of opinion.
Exactly! Naze?
It's signed. Otherwise I doubt it would go for that price.
Hmmm...well at least it's autographed so that makes it a collectible. Someone just made a lot of money. They'll probably spend that money on anime stuff. I say good for them.
A Kudo shirt would have definitely captivated my interest more, but damn. That is a lot of money for a shirt.
Alright, got a spiffy new frame to show off this--T-shirt?! God damn it. Into the vault.
I want Kudo (T-Shirt)!
Some people really do spend large amount of money just to satisfy there urge of collecting things. It doesn't matter what genre, its all about collecting. I for one collects PS1, PS2, PSP, PC, and PS3 games. Doesn't matter if I like the game, or would I even play it, I just like collecting them.
ow waow really?? i use to do that too i collect all sorts of psx cd's even jp imports which is really hard to find in my fcking country(Philippines)
but i stopped thx to poverty and such....
I WANT IT!
Well if whoever forked out that much money to buy this he is either a pretty successful person or...fucked for life.
Some of the most expensive T-shirts:
In 1996, Hanes sponsored the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia and the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team. As part of the sponsorship Hanes raises almost $1 million for underprivileged children in Atlanta and for UNICEF by auctioning limited edition t-shirts for 517 days. The final t-shirt is auctioned for more than $42,000, the most expensive t-shirt ever.
The "Home" T-shirt John Lennon wore during many of his concerts in the early 1970s. Richard Ross, owner of Home restaurant in New York (which shut down in the late 1980s), gave Lennon the shirt because he was a frequent patron. The image of Lennon in the shirt has become so well known that Julien Auctions, a concert memorabilia auction house based in Los Angeles, sold the original for $16,400 three years ago.
An item like the "My Adidas" Run-D.M.C. T-shirt, a collaboration between the sportswear company and hip-hop group, is one of those rare and valuable pieces. It was made for promotional purposes for a show in the early 1980s, and only 30 exist. The $13,000 shirt has both the Run-D.M.C. and the Adidas logos placed next to each other in the front, with an original joint logo on the back.
In 1972, the Rolling Stones created 12 promotional tops for their Goats Head Soup tour. These were made for members of the band and key people in its entourage. Seth Weiser, co-owner of What Comes Around Goes Around, a vintage clothing store in New York, has two in his private collection. He is selling one for $10,000.

I'd pay double for Kudo or Rin.
...not that I have that kind of money. :|
I'd pay triple if it was Saya, Rin, Haruka or Komari. Yuiko is actually my least liked character.
Ooh dat tsundere Saya, do want.
Beware rich otaku.
Beware broke otaku.
My motorcycle was more cheaper than this....
Note that the character art itself is directly drawn on the T-shirt by the original author, there's no "cheaper copy without autograph"
omg, I would love to wear that
Nice shirt.
But 13k... that's a 'bit' too much for me. Looks like I have to stick with the 20$ mass production shirts. >:
Isn't Japan in a terrible recession? like they're half way there to a full on depression. Who has this kind of money to spend?
Maybe they're trying to spend their way out of the depression? Might work to jump-start the economy and get the money circulating again. It's just that people are too cheap and afraid to spend.
