Valkyria Chronicles Game vs Anime

The character designs for the upcoming Valkyria Chronicles anime have been made public, and comparing them to the CG originals from the original PS3 RPG (on the left) reveals some subtle changes in style.
Considering the extremely high quality of the anime style graphics in the game (the graphics you see above were used in the actual game as well as in cutscenes), we are left wondering what might have been had they animated it in CG, although of course this would be a rather adventurous step…

Isara's eyes seem so huge...
I agree. I's the one thing I'm really irritated about.
Then the generic anime-look is a little disappointing because the game was noted much because of it's unique graphics.
Still, I will watch the anime.
Yeah, Isara's anime eyes look way too big. I hope they do something about it because I love Isara!

I think the game looks better, the anime looks so normal and looks like it'd have ALOT of QUALITY in the series.
mmm I'd have to agree that the CANVAS in-game looks more appealing- but can't wait for anime all the same.

Compared to the distinctive art style of the game the anime version looks extremely generic. I hope the anime will look fine on its own, but i cant help not liking it when its compared side by side with the game.

The game looked so much better than any of the designs for the anime so far. Glad to see an anime of it, but not so pleased they didnt even try to mimic the style.

I personally think the anime version looks better, i mean, the game was trying some weird sketchy look (which looks alright), but i prefer the normal anime look.
As others have also stated, it just seems rather generic compared to the art of the original -- assuming a more standard coloring and animation style, I'd still go with the original drawings.
Alicia's face looks oddly proportioned compared to the orignal, and Selvaria now looks like Akashiya Moka cosplaying as Megurine Luka.

IMO she seems to have gone from strong-willed to helpless and clumsy.

The game was fantastic and it's art stood out.
While I understand that the anime is trying to make it more anime-ish, (as noted by the increased moe) ultimately, fans of the game want more of the same. So I would have to say that I would rather have watched a series rendered gamestyle. (At higher resolution with more detail and fluid/realistic character movements.)
Having said that, I'll still watch the anime and want more. I'm a sucker for such things.
Im not liking the eye modifications. The original character art was great, why did they change it? Are smaller eyes harder to draw or something? What am I saying, this stuff is computer animated, they could just trace it!

Well, the game is great and the graphic engine they used will probably be too hard to make an anime out off, it might just end up being too similar. At any rate, I am looking forward to the story content.

you must not watch that cutscene during the game when you wave her lance, something else besides her faces competes greatly for my attention...

valkyria chronicles is a pro game. the anime designs look alright, but I like selvaria and alicia better in the game. isara definitely got a moe upgrade however.
The character design in the game looks far more better, imo. The anime version just seems too stereotyped.
If they don't include Dallas in this anime I will be severely disappointed.

I like the anime design too...I'm enjoying the game game aswell...can't wait to see it.
Have heard that many enjoyed the game. Since I don't own a PS3 (yet) I haven't tried out the game, but it's seems good. Will check out anime in either case.
If you do get a PS3, Valkyria Chronicles should be the first game you buy, IMHO.
Atleast download the demo from PSN and try it out.
