Shocking Strike Witches Announcement Unveiled Early

Enterprising 2ch investigators found that by manipulating their system time they could force the Strike Witches announcement countdown into revealing the future, in particular the important announcement promised, thought by fans to be the long awaited confirmation of a second season.
The shocking announcement’s contents?
“Strike Witches Game Title Decided!”
The “subtitle” to one of the game adaptations was left to be decided by fans in a competition some months ago; this is what they will be announcing. Fans now consider Gonzo a cheap knock-off of Kadokawa.
You can fiddle with the counter yourself on the site.
Fans are currently clutching at straws in the best tradition of Haruhi fans everywhere, wondering if somehow the “in-depth information” conceals details of the new season, or feverishly hoping that this is a jolly jape played on them by Gonzo, who will switch the SWF counter with the real one on the day of the announcement.
Should this prove to be the final announcement, fans can at least take solace in the fact that three quarters of Gonzo are already due to be sacked.
Doubtless many would prefer the same fate to befall Kadokawa too… It would appear Gonzo employees are in the mean time angling for jobs with Kadokawa, for they certainly display mastery of the Haruhi style hyping fans have come to loath.

Kadokawa is better troll than Gonzo.
Well I don't know whether to rage over this announcement or not ? Plus as some of you members here already mentioned earlier, I'm actually interested on the game too and was wondering what console will it be for ?
Basically I'll buy anything to do with strike witches.
To quote AnimeSuki forums:
"For example, what the people of 2chan and Sankaku fail to notice, is that this particular notice doesn't appear until the 28th. which is one day after the countdown. The announcement would be made on the 27th, which still has the 'Yoshika and Lynette teasing screen' (not to mention that the announcement of a title for an already confirmed game isn't really something worth raising a countdown for).
Long story short: I'll wait until the 27th before raging."
Eh, if this is true, it makes about as much sense as stupidity on the part of both the webmasters (for making it so easy to see the "special announcement") AND the marketing department (for trying to get fuss over a subtitle of all things).
ohohohoho!
I have absolutely no problem with the news of a Strike Witches game. It's quite unlike New-Type magazine, as it didn't mention any airing of the anime.
Plus I am actually interested in the game.
I'd actually be interested in the game. Too bad it'll never be in english.
There is one for DS which is played like a Strategy game while the other is PS2 more like visual novel.
I think there is a article on this sometimes back
You never know, guys, maybe they actually think this is big news. If the name of the new game was actually decided by a contest, Gonzo might think revealing the winner is incredibly exciting.
There is no way that the client side system clock would change what the website displays
TROLL
Save to PC, open from there, and change the system clock. That's how it works.
haha, too bad SW fans. You have to wait like us Haruhi fans and feel PAIN! XD
im guess the 30% that was both haruhi and strike witches have already commited suicide if they did this with eva and gundam i know i would.
gonzo shouldnt have the balls to toy with its fans with a countdown timer now lest they realy want to go out of buisness
...and there's Mio laughing at our huge disappointment..
Why does everyone hate Gonzo so much? At lest they give us some ecchi anime. Now that they're practically gone, who will fill their share of ecchiness? :(
A lot of people blame fansubbers, torrenters, and the like, for Gonzo's downfall, but I've nerver given the time of day for one of thier series, before, at least, it became available on TV or DVD in my region.
The only thing I really cared to get into was Tower of Druaga, and they even ran that on YouTube.
Personally, I'm not a big Gonzo fan all-around. Maybe a restructuring will allow them to focus on a few hit anime to run in the coming seasons than many formulaic and dull ones.
Oh my god, I laughed and raged at the same time.
I still have dreams/hopes for a season 2. TT_TT
Since when has this bait-and-switch tactic become popular in Japan? What idiot had the idea that the fans would appreciate it in any way?
That's... low.
I have to half believe this is a subtile website trick Gonzo is playing.
Kind of like when an English SHnY page appeared some years back, with an announcement about the "world ending" on such and such date (meaning some big announcement was coming, we just needed to wait, like the Haruhi fans we are).
Someone looked at the source code and matched the DOCTYPE to the same style Funimation uses, and assumed it meant that Funi purchased the R1 DVD rightd to the series.
As it turns out, Kadokawa USA licensed it, and continued to mess around with the source code by putting secret messages from 'Yuki' within the code.
All in all, what we've come to expect from Kadokawa, plus they aired a series of bonus online only, mind-numbing, live-action, Haruhi videos, featuring Wendee Lee as none other than the live-action Haruhi.
Which is why I think this was intentionally left for people to discover. Gonzo's REAL message awaits!
clutching at straws indeed.
I lol'd
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-02-25/strike-witches-2nd-season-reportedly-to-be-announced
!!
Oh and if you want to fuel your rage even more, the mark of the beast is at the bottom of the webpage...
I came...
I loled twice
ahh I was hoping for the announcement for the 2nd season. At least it wasn't even close to the kadokawa announcement.
Yeah, another season of SW1 would be a bit much. This is at least new content of what I would assume to be a certain professional level, unlike boats or a rehash. (Also, Haruhi-chan, while interesting, isn't something actually making me go "WOW!")
Probably for the best. I wouldn't want them pulling a Minami-ke or anything on the second season while they go through their heavy restructuring, instead at least waiting for the situation to stabilize first, perhaps testing the waters with anime from another contracted studio to see what they'd be capable of in that regard.
But hey, loli in pantsu is loli in pantsu, be it on the television or in more interactive forms. Does the site in any way actually confirm the game
to be dating sims?If you change your system time to April 2, 2031 and go to the Haruhi site, there is a message saying:
Celebrating 25 years of trolling. You cunts are never getting a second season. Your ignorance and gullibility show no bounds. Been load of fun. Cheers.
Do websites really work like this? I don't seriously belive a website looks at your system clock to determine what the date is. This seems like it was deliberately put to misguide people. Anyone with webpage wisdom care to shed more light on this?
Some sites do things like this. The "teaser" site has been quite popular lately, in fact, among software releases as well, or at least is being used for several titles by a couple companies. They've all been tied into a different clock than the system clock.
I'm not sure if this is done from downloading the site source and changing the time on the PC (since that's where it would read the time from, given that it's effectively being hosted on there), or if it was done on the one actually at the URL linked.
On other similar teaser sites, this method didn't work, and just showed a negative number counting instead. This could in fact be a bogus message to be replaced with a later one when the countdown actually ends; it's not entirely without precedent.
Alternately, this is what it appears to be at face value. That Gonzo is tightening its belt -- and the presence of a link to "web KADOKAWA" -- makes me suspicious that this is the real case.
For the curious, I'm actually of the opinion that the "In-Depth Information" is in fact details about the game proper, which isn't a bad thing at all. There's not much to say about the name being decided really; at least, I'd assume not.
With Gonzo in its current state I'd be worried, as I noted elsewhere, that we'd end up with EPIC QUALITY Witches.
OK, english is not my primary lang.. so please excuse me, anyway.. here it goes. Flash uses some kind of script (ActionScript?) to show specific frames or "scenes" at certain time intervals, supossedly using the "server" time, but as the 2ch folks did, they downloaded the files and loaded the page locally thus acting as a server, changing the local time, and revealing the long awaited (?) announcement.
Your English is great.
Basically what he's trying to say is they used ActionScript, Flash's programming language, to make it reveal the message when their server's clock gets to a specified time. When you download the Flash video, your computer is now the server from which the swf calls the time, rather than the website's server.
this 2ch guys have to much free time
it was shocking alright, shocking bad will say.
LOL Gonzo XDD
no new haruhi and no new strike witches. 2009 is a shitty period for anime fans. i'm done with gonzo now, just like kadokawa.
