Outrage from TV viewers has resulted in angry letters being sent to Japan’s Broadcasting Ethics and Program Improvement Organization, with regard to a show where celebrities leisurely indulged in food far too expensive for any normal person.
The food item in question was abalone, a large edible sea snail, worth a ridiculous ¥90,000 (~$1,000) a piece.
In Japan food and cooking shows comprise a very large percentage of television programming, and ones depicting celebrities enjoying expensive dishes are no less commonplace. It is for this reason the outburst is rather inexplicable in its reasoning…

Will we be seeing complaints about too many expensive cars on TV next?
Hey home viewer check this s♥♥t out! OM NOM NOM!!
*troll face*
That happened all the time on Hello!Morning/HaroMoni@ — the girls would visit expensive eateries (especially ones that served deserts) quite frequently, eating a $10 piece of desert cake without a thought.
I think the celebrity themselves don’t eat those food during their own time because they don’t want to spend that much for food or don’t have that money for food.
It is more likely that the studio invite them and purchase them the food for the celebrity.
hell i would also protest. the tv is such a wonderful invention, yet its used on crap like that. better use those resources for something more productive rather than feeding the ignorance of the masses.
Chairman Kaga does not approve of these letters.
