Yet another example of some rather extreme architecture, this time found in China. Though the building itself looks relatively sound, one has to wonder what kind of nuisances are present from living so close to the highway, though there is a more pressing question raised by the building’s construction…
Just which was built first to secure this overhang, the apartment or the highway? In either case we have to wonder what was going through the minds of the architects involved.

It is obvious that the apartment was built first. It is almost impossible to build the house after the bridge is built. It only shows how reckless these bridge designers are, ignoring the existing housing arround.
It looks like a neighborhood in an old JetSetRadio game. Actually, it looks perfect for an action scene.
Having my balcony as the neighborhood bus stop would get old after awhile.
Doesn't look too dangerous. Maybe potentially dangerous but it depends on if there's been a history of crashes there and what the speed limit is.
That family would have to install steel bars on their windows if they don't want to get robbed...

This is something normal everywhere you go, even in Malaysia. The developers are just selfish individuals who only cares about making money and couldn't care if they cause problems for others. I mean even my area is turning into chaos with highways and apartments under construction everywhere! Just to think that my place used to be an oil palm plantation some 20+ years ago....

When I was in Japan, I saw something similar to this.
must be some awesome precision engineering, those Chinese engineers have master the art of designing and building a structure within 0.001mm of error.
Melamine dairies, explosive pressure chair, haystack manhole cover, and now this...? Are they really expecting people to die due to cheaply made stuffs? I don't want to believe it but it seemed the rumour about China trying to put people to death as much as possible for organ "donations" is possibly true..

I'd still take this over the NIMBY attitude that most Americans have -- they'd rather let any potential for efficiency and economic growth choke in traffic congestion. They'd also rather let people die in crashes at overcapacity interchanges (cf. the I-95/395/495 "Springfield Interchange" south of Washington DC) than give up a few feet of driveway/lawn or have their precious aesthetic views encroached upon.

The Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle cuts the corner of one building so close that the building actually sticks several inches into the shoulder of the road. It's kind of freaky to drive by.
