Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance Due June 27th

The release date for the upcoming second Neon Genesis Evangelion movie is now set for June 27th. Part 2 is entitled ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版:破 / Evangelion Shingekijoban: Ha, or otherwise officially known as Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance.
Since it’s release in September of 2007, the first movie has grossed over 2 billion yen and sold an impressive 600,000 DVDs.
Part 2 will bring about the long awaited return of Eva pilot Asuka Langley Sohryu, as well as finally reveal the identity of the new heroine pictured in the poster above.
Additional releases of the TV series’ latest digital remaster for DVD and Blu-ray will begin on May 27, starting with episodes 1~6.
Perhaps most excitingly of all, starting March 14th a limited edition Asuka phone strap made by the company Be@Brick will go on sale for ￥1,600, with a Rei Ayanami version soon to follow.

well guys, I for one, welcome Gainax as our new overlords.
finally we get to know who the heck is that new girl...
I less interested in the new girl and more on whether Shinji gets a backbone or not.
Not that I don't understand his character to some degree, but after a while it just got a bit TOO much.
And by that you mean "I was trying to sympathise with Shinji".
Remember when Misato tried to comfort him and he pulled away ?
Shinji doesn't want your sympathy.
You need the capacity to empathize.
Not being able to empathize with Shinji makes you a normal person, so you're probably better off not being able to anyway.
Hope you like waiting.....
The nice thing about the movie is you get to experience all the things he goes through at once without breaks in between, albeit, (exactly) like marathoning the first part of the series.
It's easier to empathize with him then, plus, I think they may have reworked the character to be a tad less whiny in the first movie. I could be mistaken.

The anime that won't die. EVER, it appears.
And why should it?
If something is not going to die, I'd rather have them do it like this.
Not like FMA making a series re-do, only a few years after the original. Or Negima, with their new series retelling the story, only a year after the first ended.
Instead, EVA waited more than a decade, and the team is pacing things out.
Does actually following the storyline count as a redo?

Well, EVA's idea of a shoulda-been is more or less what the fans wanted, not what Hideki Anno wanted.
But there is a new NGE: Angelic Days manga that retells the story more pleasantly and romantically.
I'll leave it to everyone else to decide which story/AU is better.
didn't they made a "shoulda-been" about eva, aswell ? at least, with a couple of ovas, and also, with a new manga series.. am i right ? noes? well, i didn't like it though, too much psychological crap to fit my tastes. i only liked large breasted women and robot fights.

Been waiting for the date of the next movie. It practically keeps in line with their movie release schedule. Aaaannnd now there's a new heroine for the series? That's news to me (guess the maid cosplay figures aren't getting enough buzz). Can't wait for it to come out (then get licensed by Funi). ;)
BTW, grrrrreat way to kick ADV in the balls (w/ good measure) with their version of the remastered EVA TV series. First was DBZ, could the next series be Cowboy Bebop? Trigun? MS Gundam? xDDD
I hope the new girl is foreign; I always found it awkward they're all Japanese with one German.
To be fair, the German girl is actually half Japanese too.
you can recognize the fact she isn't full japanese by the fact that her breasts are small. Rei is just a home-made human, while the grown-ups could have used surgery.
