Rei Ayanami Ita-Ramen On Sale

The seemingly immortal Evangelion franchise is producing another bizarre product: Evangelion-themed packages of instant garlic ramen, decorated with images of Rei Ayanami and AT-field shaped fishcake toppings.
The flavor of the dish must be good, as apparently it is “Rei orderded”.
The merchandising blurbs read thusly:
A brand new implementation of a full-original idea! The perfect return of Rei’s requested Ramen.
- Design purely focused on “Eva taste”.
- Original AT-field naruto* inside.
- “Lance of Longinus” seals on the lid.
*A naruto is the swirled fishcake topping often put into ramen dishes, also called kamaboko.
The ita-ramen can be ordered domestically in Japan from stores like AmiAmi, which is selling packs of 20 for a rather costly ¥5,250.
Information on whether or not this is the only design featured on all the ramen packages, or if there are alternate ones is not given, but I for one would also enjoy Asuka decorated bowls so I could choose between the two depending on my mood…

Not interested in ramen-in-a-cup though, taste like just like normal noodles, only it is expensive. =(
Those are the fish cakes and lid seals I mentioned in the post.
I think the idea here is not so much to use as a form of sustenance, although if I purchased a pack I'd hurriedly eat one just to be able to say I did. ^^

Man, why doesn't Lupin III get any branded food or Christmas figures? All we get are a bunch of video games that're terrible at BEST and an anniversary movie that doesn't make any damn sense.

"Ita-i" (痛い）means pain, it's a prefix affixed to things to create a word that generally means "otaku decorated".
"Pain" is used since these things apparently cause pain to the eyes of commoners seeing them, although they're quite lovely to mine...
Search "itasha" here for the best known example, I in particular like covering these things.
Well, as far as I understood the pain hinted at in that ita-prefix is not the pain of the common people but that the closet otaku are feeling when using their ita-goods in public.
I was told it was because it caused pain to the otaku wallet whenever he sighted an ita-item.
Of course, we could've all been trolled and it means nothing whatsoever.

i once saw a bright pink toaster that branded the face of Kitty of the "Hello Kitty" franchise onto both sides of your bread. my sister thought it was pretty cool. shame that you couldn't insert different pictures, but i suppose with enough tinkering and time, one could create a stencil of whatever you wanted on your toast.
¥5,250 for 20? You can get 200 packs of cup noodle for that price. It's essentially too expensive to eat...
