Anican (a free anime and tokusatsu centric newspaper) has published the results of its extensive 2008 Reader’s poll awards.

Macross F deserves to have the top spot. It's a recommended 2008 anime watch
Deculture!!!!
Macross F was a train wreck that at times made M7 look great.........
Gundam 00 was ahell of a lot better...but then again the last great Gundam show was 08th....
Macross F :)
Gundam 00 :/
This is coming from from a fan of both gundam and macross franchise.
IAWTC.
FUCK YEAH! Mizuki Nana!
What the FUCK!? No Kugimiya Rie? Oh cruel cruel world!
No Hidamari Sketch or Kana Asumi? FFFFFFFFFFF-
Frontier FTW!
except the "running pantsu" episode which was a waste of everyone's time.....
Nah, Sheryl running for her panties was a great ep.
Waste of time was... mm.... well, everytime Ranka appeared on screen after second episode.
Is that right? Ranka Lee's the only anime character in the Japanese Grand Anime Award 2008. Whatever does that mean? Big shot?
ranka? big shot? i guess so. they said grand awards. she's in it. that's...grand.
Clearly just shows Ranka fans don't know how to vote in categories since she came 3rd in the character poll behind Sheryl and Lelouche.
It's a "special" award, I think.
whoa...
BTW, I suspect that the "too small to make out" in the manga category is probably Gintama. It's popular Shounen Jump material, and would seem to fit in that order of magnitude of popularity.
Hmm, if I squint hard enough I'd agree.
Thanks, I'll update it then.
*nods*
Love that that OP
Characters category is all wrong though.. doesn't even list C.C. :(
Obligatory moruze.
second.
I'm not surprised to here this. Macross Frontier was definatly the show to watch in 2008. I just hope someone gets their act together and we actually get a US license this time.
I highly doubt that. Too much legal issues. Ill kill myself if harmony gold tries to add this masterpiece to "robo-shit" er tech.
Which tells us that Anican's readership is probably composed primarily of mecha fans whose series of choice is Macross and whose favourite VA is Yui Horie. If you look at Animage, Newtype etc. though then it's all about Gundam and Code Geass followed by Macross, Haruhi, Lucky Star etc. and for VA's it's Jun Fukuyama, Mamoru Miyano, Kamiya Hiroshi and Yukana in whatever they are doing.
Personally I'd like to see the magazines do a meta poll where they get all the readers to submit their preferences into one big pool so that we can see what the overall otaku preferences are. Oh that and publish the damn statistics like total votes cast and the number of votes cast for each entrant. No pie chart equivalent no trusty trusty the results on my part.
I disagree with the poll results. Can I get a new one?
Mecha fans and female fans into seiyuu and bishounen. Nothing else explains Tieira, Setsuna and the entire male seiyuu list.
It's a Free Magazine...how reliable can the 'readers poll' be? I could be the same group of fans voting 'how many times'?
I'd like to see something a bit more scientific or metered out. If what's being licensed to other countries or becomes popular has any say I'd think "Code Geass", "Death Note" & Haruhi would be more prominent.
Unfortunately detailed statistics are quite rare in the sort of poll results we cover here.
It would be interesting to see, but likely outside the interest of the average magazine reader...
I think Zetsubou certainly doesn't get as much recognition as it should.
x2.
I would of preferred to see Ami instead of Taiga and Minorin, but like that is going to happen....
Though, I'm not really surprised of the outcome of most of these categories
no love for Kawasumi Ayako?
i smell to much Newtype in those awards.
I don't like how Gundam characters always manage the top 5 in susch polls...
I am disappointed that where Daisuke Ono is it doesnt list Hoska as an example role.
I did consider that, but space was limited...
Negima!
You might want to switch the name order on Hiroshi Kamiya and Fukuyama Jun to keep it consistent, since it looks like you're doing this by Western name order. And it looks like 悠一 to me as far as which Nakamura it is. Or were you just trolling?
Go figure there's no one like Hisakawa Aya, Orikasa Fumiko, Hayashibara Megumi, (ry, but I'm slightly surprised at the lack of Tanaka Rie or Kugyuu being in the top five female seiyuu. Then again, seeing Mizuki Nana being in a top seiyuu related poll that doesn't have anything to do with her singing abilities makes me wwww and realize just how mainstream this poll is. Ah, oh well. At least Yukarin beat the dekobitch.
ゆかりんが神!
Thanks - sometimes long lists can be tiresome to type out.
Good catch about Yuuichi, I honestly thought it was the Kamen Rider tokusatsu actor Yuuichi Nakamura, not the seiyuu.
