In yet another find by fans, this image presents a scene from the latest episode of Clannad After Story alongside its 3D counterpart, much like the earlier comparison of Tomoya and Nagisa‘s real life house.
The fact that while watching the episode earlier this week my thoughts were, “What an odd looking sculpture!”, only to be later reminded that someone had actually already built the thing in 3D clearly shows my familiarity with modern art…
If you find the subject of real life locales being recreated in 2D interesting, you might also want to look into the Chaos;Head 2D vs 3D and Ga-Rei Zero Photoshop posts.

wut.. that's my crib :D
no! it' a trap!
Looks sweet irl... does it spin?... if it does, that would be soooo much more awesome.
apparently its also to take note that Key likes to use real life places for their places in the games as well so its not shocking
where in japan is it?
I forgot exactly where, but I believe it was somewhere in Osaka.
Kyoani must really like using real locations in their anime, like how haruhi and kyon's school is based on a real school. I'd be nice to visit and see where eveything took place.
Full Metal Panic- TSR as well. Lots of the sceneries of Hong Kong was replicating actual locations...I came across a website a long time ago where a dedicated Hong Kong FMP fan shared his pictures along to compare with the sceneries of the anime; he took a day or two traveling around, and taking the pictures of various Hong Kong locations/spots which KyoAni used for TSR.
Now find me a RL Tessa ;)
To be totally honest, I was too distracted with Ushio this episode to really notice. I dont really think using and tracing a scene from real life is a problem. I mean its been done countless times before and really doesnt bother me all that much.
Actually, creating an original scenery and terrain is much more difficult . . .
Nobody said it's a problem, quite the contrary actually. It's just the fascination of encountering real life places in anime that keeps spawning these articles.
sugoi
its the matrix.
THAT is some delicious artwork, and you know what? I'm full, but hungry for more.
The artist that are drawing Clannad are skilled. Replicating a real 3D into 2D is not easy.
