Viewers of Toradora! on 2ch have noticed major problems with this scene from episode 17.
Can you spot them?
Interesting to see such an angle being walked with such apparent ease; it looks to be well over 45°…
One for the fail galleries?
One 2channer also added the following:
“How the hell do the people in the (white) house in the middle-right get out of their house?”
An unenviable location for a residence perhaps, but it could be worse…

Well houses that are hard to get into exist in real life:
http://bonehead.oddballs.com/AngleParking.html
so its fine to see them in anime.
Ryuuji: Goddamn it this hill hard to get up
Taiga: shut *huff* up you *huff* stupid dog
Now that I think about when they were rendering out the scene background. I think they 1st planing to set up 4:3 scene. But they screwed up. And they then ended up changing their mind, and the image got skew into. I said it they skewed image vertical not proportionally. And this is the end result.
I kinda have to agree on this. Can't explain how they screwed up this scene so badly....
they're building a new thief-proof houses?
Well.. Nanoha destroyed them so they have to rebuild them....
I guess I'm glad that things like this don't bother me in the least.
I suppose in Japan doors connecting to the street are an optional. Maybe it'a jumping ninja vill...quarter. Well, that and sun's shadows. Steepest hill in history MAYBE could be an optical effect.
I never thought that Toradora would make such a huge mistake. Geez, everything in this picture is wrong. The sun is in the background, while the shadow is placed wrong. No one has a shadow, and the hill, and houses are...well to incline.
xD 3D

Yes, that's a similar slope, but you'll notice the sidewalk on the right of the street is a stairway.
It would be very strenuous and difficult to walk up a slope like that (even coming down, you might get pulled down too fast and kill yourself).
In more detail xD

They could leave the right house from the right that we cant see @ pic i guess.
go to san francisco, this street isnt steep at all
must be a pain in the ass to walk that.
everyday...
This is from January 30th, 2009? Oh God, I've been checking Sankaku Complex every day for at least 2 years now...
Toradora itself is a failure.
Visual perspective does not need apply to anime studios.
After seeing the episode, this is clearly a fail.
The shot shown above is there with the very steep slope shown (more than 45 degrees).
The next shot is a closeup of the characters casually walking down the slope, which is nowhere near as steep as the establishing shot showed. Whoever painted the establishing shot messed up big time.
Confirmed fail.
Well..... it could be worse. xD
I just have to say after actually watching ep 17...This kind of thing really doesn't bother me, but about 13 minutes in they screwed up a voice sample. I mean how do you do that and not notice? That's unforgivable for me.
Defiance of physics seems to be the norm for the Koreans who animate Toradora. I noticed in episode 16 a moment where Sumire is mostly covered by the shadow of a building, yet her shadow is completely outside of the building's shadow.
The bottom left house seems to emerge from the wall behind it. Also, the shadows seem to be misplaced, seeing as how the sun looks like it's in the back of the scene.
Nothing wrong with the picture. That's expressionism.
Yes!
The next level will be some M. C. Escher-towns in Anime
That would be awesome. Miura kind of did that already in Berserk, I think, but that doesn't really count.
LOL
I'd love to see that!
That's a ninja village! All they have to do is jump into their houses, no problem there!
haha good one
potentially the best place to put a speed camera in history
Seconded.
I'm more worried about the occupants of the house on the middle left. The one on the right isn't fully shown so who knows what the other side looks like.
THEY'RE NINJAS
That's where I'd like to live ^_^
Maybe the home of a hardcore-hikkikomori? He does not go out and nobody can come in.
wow, that must be one helleva shock to people driving in from the top: Hmm, the horizon seems close todiiiiieeeeeeeeeeee.....
A: http://www.stargate-sg1-solutions.com/wiki/Ring_Transporter
looks similar to half life 2 teleporter XD
They are very healthy and fit hehe ^^
Other than the insanely steep incline, the car being at the wrong angle, and the fact that there is a sharp angle at the top of the plane that is sure to trap every car trying to drive up or down...
I guess there must be more.
None of the people or cars have shadows, either.
The sun in the background, but the shadows from the right?
That's not an error. Tokyo is being destroyed by some doomsday weapon or magical blast which creates the shadow.
Happens all the time.
In that case, it is the lack of wind, that such a weopon would surely ensue.
Man, you probably never see a brazillian ''favela''.
This is not a fail as you think
It would have stairs, not a flat sidewalk.
I though of Valparaíso, Chile... they have streets as steep as this one, but stairs too.
Unless there is another shot that pans to the far right or left, there's nothing wrong with this shot as you can get out of the houses on the far right by going out of hte camera view to the other side of the house. There's nothign wrong with the houses on the left.
My mind was blown.......middle house on the left is for ninjas....it's from Konoha-gakure
I'm more curious about the stepped houses having a straight lined shadow up the street.
That seems like a wall instead of a road at second glance... I really didn't noticed it when I watched it on the anime. I think that white house is just for decoration; I can't really think of anyone who'd want to live there.
Dude, you're not thinking with portals!
Those houses are leased by Yukari Yakumo. With portals for convenience entries.
