Combining some of the most tired Japan related memes available, “strange items sold from vending machines – only in Japan!” and “things which shouldn’t be canned but are anyway – crazy Japanese!”, along with moe marketing, this Touhou tea-in-a-can vending machine looks set to become a favourite for desperate Akiba news sites.
The vending machine is currently operational in central Akihabara near all the interesting PC parts shops (right by T-Zone it would appear), so some of you may wish to pay a visit, if only to gawp.
Behold the 東方缶々娘 / Touhou Can Girls:
Reimu promises to heal your innards.
Marisa promises a “Milky Way”.
Two flavours are offered, green tea and milk tea, both in 190ml “short cans” for ¥150.
Those of you fearing poisonous Chinese tea will be gladdened to hear that Japanese leaves are prominently promised, so you will at least have someone to sue in the event of a scandal.

Maybe I misunderstood, but are you guys not used to seeing tea sold in cans? The stuff's available in the US, too, although not in anime cans.
Lies we only get ice tea in cans or bottles, our tea always have to be done in the old fashioned boil some hot water and dip the little baggy-way, and even if they were sold in cans and/or bottles their not in anime cans and/or bottles, so whats the point D:

This is one of the reasons why we LOVE Japan.
I think they're rather cute. You'd never find something like this in the US. Mostly you see really garish cans of Rockstar or whatever energy drink swill they're hawking.
If I got one of these I could only hope it would turn into Reimu when I drank from it.

I don't think they're any special. I saw these last time when I was hanging around Akiba. Then again, they were still selling the Dissidia cans as well. Where the characters from Final Fantasy Dissia is imprinted on the can. These "Potions"... ugh... Same concept with the maid cafe tea image. Nothing special to me.

Not that this is unexpected, but isn't the china bashing uncalled for in this case? There's nothing wrong with Chinese tea, and China would give Japan its third nuking if they were to openly disparage it.
