The brand new manga volume of Kodomo no Jikan includes with it an OVA special starting off the new 2-Gakki OVA series. The OVA format may suit the series better, as it has been upgraded with higher production values and rid itself of the extreme censorship of its decidedly not-loli service that so mauled the TV series.
I have taken quite a substantial number of screencaps of the OVA, so those who are not familiar with the series but perhaps are fans of not-loli in general may find this to serve as an introduction to the series. Those who are already fans undoubtedly will also find something of interest below…
It should be noted in advance that as loli-haeting Amazon offers the manga tankoubon and the accompanying OVA for sale on its website, there should be no doubt that this series is completely devoid of any loli content and is completely Work-Safe and appropriate for viewing along with young children, members of the clergy, your grandparents, etc.
Firstly, something about the packaging…
One problem with the increasing rise of OAD (Original Animation Disc) being bundled with manga is the expectedly lower standard of packaging for the disc itself. As you can see above, it comes in a cheap-looking cardboard enclosure with a flap that refused to stay closed once the shrink wrap was removed.
The bottom part of the DVD sleeve is at least plastic, and does come with a nicely drawn illustration at least.
The episode itself covers the Shiro-chan / Kuro-chan story from the 4th volume of the manga, and the show doesn’t make many allowances for those who aren’t already familiar with the story, so newcomers to the series might find themselves a fair bit lost.
Now, on to the actual show…
“Stop! Don’t put such a big thing inside while Aoki-sensei’s watching!!”
“Ahh! It’s going in!
F-forgive me, Aoki-sensei…forgive me for being such a bad girl!”
(Aoki-sensei is not amused.)
“Sensei…your big injection…you can put it in right here!”
Cue the OP, “Guilty Future” by Eri Kitamura, Rin’s seiyuu…
Rin’s midriff.
Kuro.
Mimi’s pantsu.
Mimi herself.
In the back, near the door…
The episode proper begins:
Rin has been playing with the sign that adorns her 4th grade classroom…
…and replaced Minna Nakayoshi (Everyone get along nicely!) with Minna Nakadashi (Everyone ejaculate inside!)
Houin-sensei, usually called Boin-sensei. (“Boin” means huge breasts)
Kuro has her first lengthy conversation with Shiro-sensei…
…and begins tailing her everywhere.
Shiro complains to Aoki.
Houin misunderstands, and her belief that the men of the school are into “cool beauties” ala Shiro is further strengthened.
Meanwhile, Kuro keeps on trying to be Shiro’s friend.
She even gets a matching pair of white and black hair ornaments for the two to wear (Shiro means white, Kuro means black, so the colors are appropriate) beacause she feels Shiro’s appearance is too plain…
Kuro’s mention of fashion causes Shiro to think of the time when she was an unfashionable schoolgirl herself…
Notice the difference between their uniforms?
Back in the present, Rin tries to convince Kuro to help in the upcoming sports competition. Kuro is unmoved, and accidentally blurts out that it would take a kiss from Rin to get her to go…
“I can do that much…”
“You only said ‘kiss’…you didn’t say who.”
Kuro runs into Aoki-sensei in the middle of her tantrum.
Aoki is not amused.
(Kuro runs off to confide in Shiro…)
“There’s someone in my class that I like…someone that I’ve always liked since the 1st grade…”
“That person’s a girl…”
“Huh?!”
“Don’t worry about it…as you grow up you’ll eventually become normal.”
“I shouldn’t have talked to you!”
Shiro back at her apartment.
Houin-sensei tries out a new outfit…
Boin-sensei?
Shiro tries to apologize with Kuro…
Shiro lapses back into her old memories, and imagines what it would have been like if she then had a strong friend like Kuro is to Rin…
Shiro-chan.
Rin meanwhile tries to get closer to Aoki-sensei.
Cue the ED, “1,2,3 Day” by Little Non, who also did the TV series’ OP/ED and the original 2007 OVA’s ED…
All in all, the new OVA series will likely appeal very much to those who were already fans of the anime, as the production quality received a significant boost, the censorship is gone while the original seiyuu and production staff remains the same – so there is no reason to fear drastic changes ala Minami-ke Okaeri.
Those who were not fans of the first TV series or OVA will most likely not find anything of interest with the new OVAs, as Kodomo no Jikan at its core exists as a show catered to those that have at least some sympathy for not-loli themes.
Falling into the first camp (a fan of the series), I would definitely recommend other fans to see the episode, which can be obtained easily enough.
rin and her teacher. 😡
um
Ouch poor aoki sensei, that kuro chan iz one krazy bitch!!!!!
I didn’t know that Shiro smoked.
this new one looks funnyer!
