Chinese Clone Site Rips Off NicoNico Douga

China’s audacity in flagrantly copying and pirating all it can continues to impress, with the news that an entire Chinese clone site of NicoNico Douga has been created, carrying the very same MADs and copying exactly the signature tickered comments of NicoNico Douga.
The (completely unauthorised) site in question is called AcFun.cn, and it runs much as you might expect a shoddy and inferior Chinese clone site to (that is to say, adequately).
Surely, we cannot help but view these sites as officially condoned, given the zeal with which political sites are censored and the complete apathy shown towards sites such as these?
Although doubtless nobody will do anything about this site, it looks as if they wouldn’t last long if there was such a thing as rule of law in China.
In addition to possible copyright violation of Nico IP, there are apparently patents held by Nico on their tickered text, and of course it practically goes without saying that what video content isn’t lifted from Nico constitutes unauthorised use of full anime episodes and similar.
Still, this is China… And neither are Nico entirely innocent in all this.

Why are you disgusted with AcFun exactly?
No one on AcFun ever claimed they created the videos, they almost always post the source video linking back to Nico, it's just that accessing Nico from within China is slow as hell, so AcFun is a good alternative.
Obviously you didn't even take more in-depth look AcFun. I suggest you do. Either that you're just trying to cover a blanket over the problem. It has NOTHING to do about speed.
If niconico can't have what they want against the laws, NOONE can!
Are you referring to full length episodes being posted on AcFun?
Thye steal the design but they never steal the fans
Isn't it interesting here?
Someone nowadays always likes to do things in the same way..
Why just can't U keep working!
as the Banksy once said
Copyright is for losers.
ALL HAIL INTERNET COMMUNISM!
This... is... CHINA'S COPYRIGHT LAWS!!!!!!!!!!!

Germany only served as a proxy server. *Hint
acfan is a copy, no question. but it is a good thing. why?
1.here in china, it gave so many fans a chance to chat in the video.
2.like you have sc, acfan is a place to see everthing without go everyplace.
3.nico never claim it's rights for such things in china.
4.it gives you such good topic to chat to fight to hate.
ps: why nobady can copy yahoo! or wow?
china is screwed up...
must be the communism mentality they still have which applies to copyright laws too i guess....
Is there something existing that China didn’t steal already? Chinese people itself are just a copy of other asians if you look at history books.
you are a copy of adam and eve
分明是你们在抄我们

历史?过去明明是别人在学我们!
Erm .. no, Chinese people WERE chinese. China is japans culture father. -.-
and of course it practically goes without saying that what video content isn’t lifted from Nico constitutes unauthorised use of full anime episodes and similar.
oh my god, did you use the web site before making this conclusion? do you know the meaning of word like sm1234567 under videos of the web? if you don't know, check it out and tell me what it is.
Copying is one of their unique characteristics. Heck, you can even consider it a part of their culture. And in stead of being ashamed of it here are some retards trying to justify these wrongs. So I guess you can't really blame them cos it'll be the same as blaming a roach for eating garbage. Man, it wouldn't be too bad if they come up with a 'sankakucomplox' or something one of these days. Then all these shameless and self-justifying peepz can just go patronize their beloved fakes and stop disturbing us here.
obvious troll.
well, there are so many chinese things even chinese don't know that. Chinese always think that something should be theirs.
Sadly, China made ANOTHER Niconico clone: http://www.bilibili.com/
That makes 2 cloned NND style sites from China.

I don't know but there has to be more to life than constantly posting anti-Korean and anti-Chinese articles on a site like this.
D8观光团前来围观
Still waiting for a Chinese version of Chinatown, it will happen dammit.
Isn't 60% of your site's content stolen from gravure magazines, artist sites (who often don't like their stuff getting reposted), nicovideo, and etc?
Then why are you here?
You can say the same of YouTube and Nico, would you like to complain about their success? Could you point what this has to do with cloning an entire site whilst you're at it?
Lolz
You do realize that YouTube and Nico "rip off" each other's videos too, don't you?
What AcFun does is no different, and the uploaders DOES indicate where the video clips are originally from. Moreover, there are a considerate amount of original videos on AcFun too.
"Cloning an entire site"? Have you ever visited AcFun yourself? If you have, would you please tell me how is AcFun similar to Nico, apart from the tickered texts?
And as for the tickered texts, in your article you wrote "there are apparently patents held by Nico on their tickered text". However, I couldn't see this claim anywhere in the ITmedia article you linked. So how did you come up with that? Did you even do proper research on, say, IPDL before you draw this conclusion?
Oh, one last thing. So you didn't deny the fact that "60% of your site’s content's stolen from gravure magazines, artist sites, nicovideo, and etc", did you.
It's okay for Youtube users to rip videos from Nico, since they must also be Nico users in order to get videos from Nico.
Do you agree with the paragraph above? If you do, then please change "YouTube" to "AcFun.cn", read it again, and see if it still makes sense.
In your article you claimed that AcFun is "inferior" to Nico, which is absolutely NOT true. The fact is lots of Chinese people, many of whom fluent in Japanese, go to BOTH Nico Japan and AcFun.
As for the tickered texts, well of course the almighty Japanese Commentators are always right, so I guess it's okay to base your judgments entirely on what they said. However, are you saying that the tickered texts alone makes AcFun "an entire Chinese clone site" of Nico?
Their users rip them off, in an unauthorised fashion. The tickered text is enough of a rip-off for any reasonable person to realise.
I didn't draw any conclusion - I said "apparently"; Japanese commentators have at various times claimed that Nico has some IP in this area.
Come to think of it, you weren't able to respond to any of my points. Why would I waste my time responding to yours?
Ignore the stupid posts about this site being 'the same thing' as a blatant rip of nico.
I'd explain why they are wrong but I don't think they'd be able to comprehend it.
Continue what you have been doing Artefact,
I for one support you fully.
Not sure what triggered such hugely deficient posts all of a sudden...
I give Artefact a hard time on all kinds of things, but SC is meant to be such a resource, and everyone here credits sources without lifting text wholesale. Plus, streaming sites have external embedding for a reason. This talk of 'stolen' content here is ludicrous.
Perhaps two subtle anti Chinese posts so close to one another? I'm feeling a bit of anti chinese undertones from this and that magazine entry. Truth be told, it has me upset almost to the point of jumping onto the hate Artefact bandwagon, but I'll resist.
Hate the site, hate the magazine, and hate the pirates that orchestrate this, but don't hate a country and its people because of that.
Perhaps if it wasn't for the international copyright immunity that China obviously enjoys while the rest of the technologically advanced world would be thrown in prison for life for half of the blatant copies, I'd 100% agree with you, as it is I still agree with you. However there is something to be said of a Government that does not respect IP and allows this kind of virulent copyright infringement.
Ridicule and exasperation rather than hate is the intended effect. As I have said in comments elsewhere, I consider China's development a very positive thing (in general), and in recent history Japan, and less recent history America, have done the same sort of thing.
It's more to do with being poor and developing than being Chinese. Still, it's reasonable to take a sceptical view of it.
And DeGrade, I'm glad you have noticed we take our ethical stance seriously. We always link to the original sources, never plagiarise, and try wherever possible to promote the artists and similar featured.
Additionally, we try to promote distribution which ensures the original creators are supported, without patronising the audience.
I hope a sound balance has been struck.
WE LOVE YOU, ARTEFACT! *glorious shining thumb* XD
Agree'D, we love you and your site, don't stop the win. (*'-')b
at least you dont have to log on to see these vids
I'll be freaking LAUGHING if ask if they would Sankaku would sign on AcFun.cn and they can broadcast videos on here.
BUT, It MAYBE A BLACKSIDE version of NICONICO. Who knows in MIGHT BE that NICONICO that created this, so can watch anime again. It's a win win situation for niconico, hate foriegners(chinese), reap in profits by broadcasting, and doing everything like before that made them SO popular. It's like the same stunt what of what 2ch did with Singapore. Don't you think? http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/01/02/2ch-now-owned-by-mysterious-singaporean-company/
Seconded lol, thought the same after reading this article...
Well, the only thing from China that is not pirated is piracy itself.
China is srsly mastering the art of cloning
didn't China successfully clone a Panda? or something xD!!!! watch one day..."Buy Artificial Chinese Girls ONLY $199!!" lol
