The flagship store of otaku goods retailer Gamers is currently displaying the upcoming Card Captor Sakura BD release side by side with the older DVD master.
Not a huge amount of detail can be seen by these smaller resolution photos of a store display (shown below), but fellow fans of the well regarded shoujo classic should find the coming release of the BD version to be happy news.
The Card Captor Sakura BD version will be released in two boxsets, the first, Card Captor Sakura: Clow Cards Chapter will be available in March for around ¥62,000. The subsequent release that finishes the series after Sakura has become master of the Clow Cards, Card Captor Sakura: Sakura Cards Chapter, will be released in June for around ¥38,000.
The boxsets will be the only way to purchase the BD version, as there are currently no plans announced to release it in individual volumes. Certainly many fans must fondly remember the show well enough to pay such a princely sum for the whole collection?
The new BD version display is viewable on the 2nd floor of Gamer’s main Akihabara store.

Minky Momo or possibly Runrun is the mother of all l♥♥i.
And 100.000 yen is not that expensive when you consider it’s over 100 episodes. 1000 yen/episode is cheap, in fact.
$1,000 for the whole series? As much as I like CCS, I think dropping a Grover Cleveland for the whole series is a bit dumb when I rent the whole series on Netflix.
If it had english subtitles id pay.
AM I FRIGGIN READING RIGHT HERE?!
a boxset for more than 600$?!! they insane or something?
Not bad for an anime that was made in 1998…
