Given the ferocious antipathy we have seen directed against the Hollywood movie “adaptation” of beloved classic Dragonball, the sight of the game adaptation of the movie, “Dragonball: Evolution”, is sure to send fans in paroxysms of rage and despair.

Below we compare the two conceptions of the franchise, in 2D and 3D:

Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai, from 2006, available now (sequel):

Sadly they might be serious, for I heard the actor who played goku signed up for two sequels. Of course it might be funny if they released them on april 1st,at least then we can all hope the release was just a horrible nightmare, if only for a moment.

Executive producers and marketing managers rather, I don't think any real director would believe in a movie like that and feel frankly ashamed to have directed it.

it's not the director's fault that the movie is not true to the original series,it was the executives fault. they only allowed the director to read the back of a dragom ball dvd case.

Or simply forced it to be 'family friendly' and contain certain elements which the executives BELIEVE would earn them the most money.

Which is why self-funded projects within small teams are the way to make a movie, or pure hivemind.

How is it the same game?

Dragonball Z Shin Budokai 2 has at most 24 playable characters from the Dragonball universe, plus it has in-game transformation and an improved upon fighting system.

Dragonball Evolution, judging from the movie cast, probably only has 7 playable character.

Sure, they're both fighting games, clearly one has been made with fan-service in mind, the other, however...

    That's what I meant.

but the character models for DB:E looks blocky. but the backgrounds are more detailed.....probly it would make a decent fighting game.

I can't imagine that Evolution can be much worse than the original. Hollywood decides to make an adaption and people suddenly start to believe that Dragonball was actually ever good at all.

I shouldn't have looked at them side-by-side. Now I'm even less impressed with Evolution's backdrops, a rushed cop-out that tries to look somewhere in-between anime and... well, that live-action THING bearing the Dragonball name.

To be honest, both games actually sucks! But I voted for Shin Budokai 2 anyway since it does relate to the anime. I really don't like the fighting engine and all that crap, could probably be better if it was an Adventure game or something....

    retard here!
Well, i'm sorry, but i don't see how the anime game looks better, both graphics suck ass, and both of them stay true to their original. You can't blame DB-E for less characters, no powerups whatsoever, because its DB-E and not DB-Z-E(or however they will call the Z adaption)

and to be honest, i really like master roshi and yamcha(with the black jacket) in the game. Can't wait to see goku and piccolo in the game.

    But i wouldn't buy either
Because for ME a fighing game needs good graphics and gameplay, because lets face it, a fighing game can get pretty boring after a short while unlike rpg's and therefore they need AT LEAST good graphics.

    My two cents

First of all DB-E is complete bull, Goku is white (Damn the "Man") and what is bullet proof monk doing as Master Roshi and Bulma... well...that's fine, either way the whole point of making a live action movie out of a game, comic book or an anime would have to be that they find actors who resemble their characteristics or at least decent professional actors and go with the plot and story of the game, comic book anime. By characteristics I don't mean their hair. For those who voted for DB-E game is just plainly retarded, but what ever that's there opinion. In all I'll still go see the movie, lol
