Man Attempts Theft of Live Power Line Using Scissors…

On the morning of the 15th, the burnt corpse of a man was discovered hanging upside down from a Guangdong power line.
The fire department quickly arrived on the scene, and deduced that the man was attempting to steal the cables after noticing a spot where scissors had been inserted.
We are left to speculate whether he intended to actually cut the cable free with these, or was attempting to pry something loose…
Given his evident lack of judgment, abortive cutting seems quite possible.
Following the incident, a warning sign was put around the area so that necessary repairs could be done; it’s not clear whether power supplies where interrupted by this.

This has the Persona 4 murder cases written ALL OVER IT.
Coincidence aside, the ignorant dood should've at least insolated himself. Goddamnit, China.
The fall of Saigon was the largest helicopter airlift in history. Most of the evacuees flew out from the US Embassy. Problem was, at least at the start of the evac, was that the only place to land choppers at the embassy was the roof, and only the smallest choppers could land there. Much larger birds could land in the parking lot but there were 2 things blocking the way. One was a tamarind tree, a gift from Vietnam to the US. That got removed in short order with a chainsaw. The other thing was a bit more complicated....powerlines! The USMC scratched their heads about it for a second, then one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children climbed a power pole with a pair of bolt cutters, not knowing if the power was still on or not. A snip and then a sigh of relief; the lines were dead.
