A Mandarake store in Tokyo is selling what is billed as a “Famicom (NES) Complete Cartridge Set” for ¥650,000 ($7,200). The set contains 1,051 different cartridges and is reported as having every Famicom ROM cartridge commercially sold.
It is a pity they are Famicom games and not compatible with the Super Famicom that recently went on sale for $5,500, as that combination would have been enough to cement a gaming otaku’s credentials for life…
The collection was put on display January 10 at the Mandarake Complex store in Chiyoda (relatively close to Akihabara).
The set includes 11 years worth of Famicom games, starting from the 1983 release date of the console to the last officially licensed game ever made in 1994.
The display virtually doubles as a museum gallery for those interested in retro gaming…
The price tag.
Super Mario Bros., the sequel to the original 1983 Mario Bros. arcade game.
Rockman 2, better known as Mega Man 2 internationally.

... WOW... just WOW...
Definately worth it.
And why the hell didn't we get those good looking cartridges to our NES in Europe (and US?)? Instead we got some big, long and grey crap that you had to blow in all the time since they couldn't stand dust lol.
The Famicon looks so much better than the NES too. -_-
you know, blowing it actually never really did anything.
Though try telling that to a 5-year-old trying to beat Super Mario Bros.
Dood, blowing on the cartridge works, but only if you are the owner, otherwise, it don't do jack. Of course, if you are the owner and it doesn't work, that means the cartridge does not recognize you as the owner.
...feel the cartridge, be one with the cartridge...
su-すげええ(<_<)
$7,200? Just games? That sounds like a good deal, really. What happens if the battery backup in Dragon Quest or Legend of Zelda is dead, though?
Download the ROM if you actually want to play it. Keep the cartridge on display with the rest and don't tell anyone it's fucked if you ever decide to sell them.
lol touche my friend thats brilliant
you could rip open the cartridge and replace the battery. Course, do it wrong and the value of the cartridge drops significantly...
A gamer's dream ^_^
holy shit! FREAKY!!! in the pic the wallpaper on the pc monitor, is the same wallpaper that i am using! lol
Now you got me interested. Care to share a link to the wallpaper? Is it on the sankakuchannel?
"The set contains 1,051 different cartridges and is reported as having every Famicom ROM cartridge commercially sold."
I call bullshit ! My NES rom collection has every rom ever dumped and it contains 1600 UNIQUE games, that is 1600 without taking into count all the hacks, patched versions, regional releases, etc.
1,051 is the total number of the official JAPANESE NES games released, so foreign/hacked/mod products are not counted.
Do you really think that there were 600 NES games exclusively produced outside of Japan ?
Totally not a realistic number. I'd say 100-150 at most. Everything else is just localizations, and thus must be included in the Japanese carts list.
I wondered about that when I found this, so I did look into it…
It seems that for North America, there were 775 Famicom games (licensed and unlicensed) released -http://www.sydlexia.com/top100nes.htm
I wasn’t able to find a Japanese listing (which would undoubtedly contain more), but the source did specifically mention it was a collection of all the ROMカセット / ROM Cassettes (ROM cartridges) that have been commercially sold in the past - presumably in Japan, and officially licensed.
I was never much of a console gamer so I’m not an authority on this, but I’m assuming that the other games you have are mods/fan-made games/foreign games, etc.
HOLY FUCK!!!
That would complete any gamers' lives
Not interested in old arcade games I'm more on the latest or the cutting edge ones.
Hmm ... how much would I need to pay someone to buy the set and ship it to me via EMS?
At least $7200.
really, that set is something...
I wonder how long it will take for someone to buy them.,,.,
Who ever buys this will be the envy of the gaming community XD
I still got some of those games on my old console...Mostly Teen Aged Mutant Ninja Turtles. Glad I only sold my old snes and sega ones.
Wow..... all that for $7200? I might as well buy a PS3, XBOX 360 and a Wii with all the game there is for that money..... =D
Belongs to a museum, really.
But I'd consider buying it if I was rich I guess
I bet the guy that brought the one from amazon will try and get his hands on this.
Oh snap, that is one EXTENSIVE collection, indeed one would be the envy of the gaming community if they bought this, though the farthest back I particularly enjoy gaming is SNES gen.
LOL.. i only have 30 or so..
I have the cash needed... tempting... >=]
yay! I hope they have 'Formation Z' and 'Macross'!
Plastic gold!
