Fake Miku vs Real Miku

How to spot a MikuMiku fake: on the left we see Comrade Miku, and on the right we have Good Smile Miku; you will likely recognise the figure in question as being the now iconic and extremely popular Nendoroid Hatsune Miku (try Kagamiku if you want something in stock)…
The manufacture on the fake Nendoroid seems quite convincing, certainly enough to fool an unwary or desperate buyer. Clearly, without legal curbs such “pirate” versions represent an increasingly sophisticated problem for figure manufacturers.
The unique Chinese approach to respecting intellectual property rights has meant more and more curious products in recent years, and figures are not immune to this, although not all domestic Chinese buyers go along with this culture…

Man, I wish this post would've come out before I bought my Konata and Haruhi Nendoroids. Well atleast my Yoshika one is real.
I want a Miku nendoroid, the Good Smile version as it is original
I received one from a friend of mine today. It's a fake =_= But I still love it: first because she gifted me the Nendoroid as a birthday gift and second because it's my very first Nendoroid :D!
MELAMINE !
CHINESE WANT TO POISON THE WORLD !!!
If the poison is already on the world,
How can it poison the world?
Now I'm getting worried whether my figma Miku is real or not.
China is getting more and more skillful in the craft of piracy
Well, you know that GSC does have their factory in China.
once they get to the point when it's indistinguishable from the original, it'll be all smooth sailing from there.
the japs will either have to stop ripping off their customers and lower their prices to match the chinese pirates, or go out of business because nobody normal'd want to buy something that's 'original' but way overpriced, when the fake is 100% identical, except you pay less.
Ah, I'm afraid I received a bootleg one for christmas. I didn't even know until I saw this. I hardly see a problem (although if I had a genuine it would probably be very obvious). Ahaha, I'll just do a little paint touch up and it'll still be fine with me.
I'd like to have both real and fake one, please.
Could have fooled me. I actually prefer the pirate Miku's default open-mouth laugh to the real thing's thin smile. Shame about the dirty paint job, though.
:( have bought a fake one, well atleast it was kinda "cheap" and looks nice:D
I got it for MYR30. And the quality of it was quite okay.
its ok if she doesn't start flaking off within the first month
I ran into this with a Tony Miku. My GF bought me the Tony Miku on Ebay. She told me that she found it for a great price $35. I was immediately skeptical as this price was so low. When it arrived, the packaging looked right. but the figure itself had easily noticeable differences. The hair was solid not translucent, the color was off and, the loose hanging strands of hair on the pigtails were glued on rather than being part of the whole molded piece.
ironically both look cute
YES MINE IS REAL :D
You get what you pay for...
CHINA: kagebunshin no jutsu
phew... I nervously checked my miku nendoroid box to see if its fake, THANK GOD IT WASN'T
as expected from China......
=\
i've gotten the pirate Miku.. =(
I do also, but at least I have a sample. Its worth P370 = $8.22 ($1 = P45) compared to the original P2100 = $46.66.
Just got a fake from a con. I'm heading back in a few hours to demand my money back, if they don't, I do believe it is illegal to sell counterfeit products in the US and will try to get the police involved.
Same here =( and my sister bought it from YESASIA too.
oh haha nvm mine was real after all I think. didn't look closely at the last set of images same post as above about YESASIA but sorry that you got a fake man that sucks.
I would hope so. I've dealt with YesAsia in the past so I would be surprised to hear they're selling bootlegs...
They made these bootlegs Mikus almost the same as the real one but to untrained eyes you can be fool by it. Luckily I didn't pick these up.
omg. i'm pretty sure i saw these being sold at the comifest '08 here (Malaysia). and worst part is that they were selling out fast each at MYR 30!
that's insulting selling bootlegs at an official event!
About 8 USD? I'd say a fair number of people wouldn't care. I personally wouldn't buy one for more than that though.
Lol saw this a while ago. Luckily I wasn't tricked. MYR 50 for the bootleg, MYR 120 for the GSC Miku ^^ Oh, and the pirated leek looks rotten too.
It does look rotten :O
Wow, like four hours ago I was looking at Miku Nendo's on eBay since I can't seem to find one without paying $20.00+ shipping or $40.00 for the figure itself, and I was considering buying one of these incredibly cheap, obviously bootleg ones. Glad this showed up to remind me how much lower quality they are, I think I'll wait a little longer.
HAHA man, it is true that there is no limit as in what those mainlanders can do with faking stuff... Damn, I'd better watch out in the future... was gonna see how much they sell them back in asia...
On the other hand though, you get more bang out of your buck for those fake Mikus. Not only do you get a cheap, fake Nendoroid, you also get a nice amount of lead, and possibly a nice dosage of lead poisoning with a side-dish of vision lose and brain damage, too. It's like a 3-in-1 deal!
Catch enough lead poisoning and you might gain the Lead Belly perk.
FP
what the fuck do you no about fallout u bich?
Just what are you proposing doing with them to get lead poisoning?
Touching, and licking them. Then, eating food afterwards without washing one's hands.
What else can you do with them? Put them up for display?
All expected uses of a Miku figure, I see.
it also haz melamine... be carefull
Yes, all the expected uses of a Miku figures.
And of course, have to watch out for the melamine... don't want any kidney stones, now, eh?
Though I am still very skeptic about the plastic materials coming from China... the lead-in-toys thing was enough to scare me.
AWESOME! PERFECT! Its just so well done!
I can't tell the interior of the copy box from the official one!
well, we have to admit it's a pretty damn good replica.
From the pics I couldn't tell the difference. Okay they are a bit different on some parts (very tiny differences) but without being aware you can't be sure that different = lower quality.
SAFE! Mine is original...
But I did get a fake Nendoroid Mikuru without noticing.
Have to add that the material quality of those figures is absolute crap.
The joints snaps too easily.
That's a pretty nice fake, but a real collector wouldn't want that crap. It's all about quality and a trained eye can point out some flaws. Thank god I got the real deal, GSC <3.
Well what is so bad about the fake Miku anyhow? (besides the quality and the copyright infringement?)
Also, where in hell did some of you guys see it sold in Malaysia? I'll try and see if I can get one of these fake Mikus out there...... xD
Well the real deal isn't just a piece of cheap plastic, real PVC has a different feel and texture to it and you can see in the pictures how the fake one shines a lot more. The face and paintjob look better too.
I got the real one a while ago, now sitting on top of my PC guarding my USB stick drives.
I think the biggest problem is that none of the money you spend on it will go to the original creators. It's the same with bootleg anime DVD's; they usually are a bit-for-bit copy of the original but I still won't buy them.
They also look fugly as hell; trust me I have a real one and there's no way a fake can compare to it.
Pieces break easily, paintjob is awful... that's about it.
