I think we should consider whether or not the animators are doing this on purpose. Just think back to the whole Rozen Maiden-ish eye rolling in the Okawari opening. They REALLY like to f♥♥k with characters’ eyes. They may even know about the bad drawing meme and throw that in there from time to time, sort of like how they constantly do :{)
