Since the huge popularity of the site now means recently published articles get in a day or two enough views to dwarf the site’s earlier articles, using this method of counting unfortunately buries earlier content irrespective of merit.
How about counting in proportion to hits per day, rather than absolute hits over long period of time?
I believe this would become rather complex…
