I wish I just had that much money to throw around. How does an otaku have that kind of budget?
Any decent engineer or programmer in Tokyo should be able to manage at least 5-6 million yen per annum...
I don't know about engineers, but programmers get a lot less than that, around 2 to 3 mil annually. To be precise, domestic companies pay shit for programming, some foreign companies pay a lot better. Bandai Namco pays shit for the work their programmers produce. Bottom line, Japan lacks programmer work force. They are offering prison inmates a chance to take programming classes, that's how bad the situation is.
2-3 million might get you a janitor. I know from speaking to people who actually do IT hiring. IT work is extremely lucrative in Japan, as elsewhere.

Sadly, this is true only of yourself, as I suspect conversations with people actually working in the IT recruitment business in Tokyo are rather more informative than your pathetic vitriol.

Software engineer will earn more than your average programmer simply because engineers end up being managers whereas programmers will end up being their slave labour team.
I don't know about japan, but america's IT field was hit hard by the recession, most large companies shaved their IT dept in half, if not worse, it's also one of the hardest fields to get into in the current economy.
Mind you, in a year or so it'll recover and that'll change, but.. yea.
