With some lighting effects some of these could almost work out. Almost.

They may not seem TOO terrifying in images, but IRL is a different matter. You don't expect to see someone with huge eyes and a head the size of a car tire. The creepiest part is how they don't blink. Humans blink on average every 2-10 seconds. They just glare at you. You can't tell what they're thinking beneath their mask. They're definitely on par with the horror of furries.

lol not to mention they mostly dont talk, and if they did, imaging how freaked out u'd be when u hear a man's voice behind that mask.... *shivers*

It's basically just NOT natural at all, and should be kept where it came from: the 2D anime world.

well, kigurumi dolls does not talk, so you won't hear the guy's voice behind the mask.
I'm a regular kigurumi cosplayer and I usually don't talk while in character; the only exception is when some smart guy comes and tries to grope me... then I let him to touch me for a while and then I talk to him with a VERY masculine voice "I hope you know there's a guy inside this doll" :D you should see their faces! :D
actually I think there is a lot of guys who doesn't know that kigurumi dolls are mostly guys. I've made "some things" with a lot of straight guys while I wear my kigurumi suit and they never realize that I'm not a girl.

I would prefer the company of a furry than this, atleast fursuits are cheesy(a constant reminder that the person underneath still has a soul, kindof)and you can talk to them(why you would want to I wouldn't know). But these are like souless dolls, with souls, and its creepy because it looks so real.

I actually kind of like these, but the fact that most of these are traps is a huge turn off. And, why aren't there any male characters?

The fun thing is, of course, that you can never know who is beneath the mask and costume. Maybe it's a girl... maybe it's a guy with fake boobs.

Traps would definitely be a huge issue. I think this distorts my reality way too much... Drugs wouldn't even fuck me up this bad. Its definitely not bad, but I prefer it to either be 2D or 3D, not both.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or is the kid pissing himself shopped?

Regardless, those masks have always horrified me to no end. As someone mentioned, the no blinking thing is creepy, plus the same goddamn facial expression isn't exactly helping matters, it just screams, "This is the last thing you will see before I begin the dismemberment."

The ones not frozen in a gaping smile aren't so bad at least. Perhaps a Yuki Nagato mask would be alright, since it would be a stoic expression.

I've never had a problem with these. I honestly can't understand why people are so "terrified" of them. But, whatever, to each his own.

I wouldn't mind knowing where to download those DVDs, haha.

If the faces and eyes had movement and expression it would make it much less creepy. Even the huge heads wouldn't be so bad with mobile facial expressions.

I actually saw less crotch bulges than I expected. There's a chance not all of those are traps. Creepy none the less. All sense of scale and proportion go out the window. Somehow, they all end up looking 7ft tall.

Yeah..... it's just.... wrong. Like looking at a train wreck happen.

#14 was a really crappy attempt at Miina and Karen from Onegai Twins. The background definitely fits though.

Isn't it sad that I recognize about 2/3 of the characters in the gallery? T_T

I'm never buying a life-size figurine now. This shit is just too creepy for words.

Most of these are really unsettling, though there are a couple that work. What weirds me out more is the whole body stocking thing. I just find it odd that they feel the need to cover every bit of skin, but I guess in some sense I can see it being rationalized. Hrm...

Yeah, I agree with most of the posts here... what makes it so creepy is the sheer lack of realism. Some mobile facial expressions would definitely benefit the cosplayer. I don't really find it 'creepy' but its certainly 'unbelievable'. Like I couldn't be attracted to it. Some of them are hot yet, but like I said, lack of realism kinda pushes it out of the window. Which is odd... I look at my fair share of hentai =D

And yeah, this is kinda like the hardcore 'furries' (although I hate the term, really, if a species from another planet came down and happened to resemble 'furries' they'd probably look at you sideways and call you stupid if you called them that, can't we just call them what they are? Anthropomorphs.) I'm like any other average guy who happens to like anime or so called 'furries' but these definitely kill the fantasy for me. It just seems so... childish in the end.
