Mikuru Asahina Extravaganza Figure

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II

More pictures of the second figure, Mikuru Asahina, in the “Extravaganza” series of Haruhu figures from Max Factory have recently gone online, showing us a cute and energetic Mikuru with her tambourine.

あさひなみくる げきそうばーじょん/ Mikuru Asahina Extravaganza Ver. will be a 1/8 PVC figure from Max Factory, sculpted by the same 黒田真徳 / Masanori Kuroda that did the companion Haruhi Extravaganza figure and presumably also did the Nagato figure.

This photo of Mikuru has been available for some time now, but the following images have only recently been made available at the Good Smile website.

I think I spy Mikuru’s trademark oppai birthmark in this photo.

I find her awkward foot positioning here to be quite moe, but others might not agree.

This is not the final production version, so I have to wonder about that weird plastic footrest supporting Mikuru’s left foot.

The source images for all three of the Extravaganza figures comes from promotional artwork for the live Haruhi concert event in 2007, Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou. Below is the front cover of the DVD:

The outfits were also used on the artwork for a vinyl record release of Hare Hare Yukai:

I happen to own this vinyl, and like so many other owners of this record I look forward to the day when I can find a record player so I can actually listen to it…

A group shot of all three figures from the Extravaganza series.

I believe Haruhi’s figure to be the best overall of the set, even though I find myself drawn more to Mikuru’s moe expression and pink dress more than the others. I think Mikuru’s main flaw is her instrument – a tambourine is simply just not as visually interesting as the elaborate (and stringed) guitars Haruhi and Yuki sport.

Mikuru Asahina Extravaganza Ver. is scheduled to be available in April 2009 for around ¥7,000. International customers will be easily able to pick her up at Hobby Search.
