The above image compares a scene from volume one of the To Love-Ru manga with an illustration aired recently on TBS late night enertainment program ランク王国 / Rank Kingdom; the illustration, or copy thereof, is apparently by Hiropyon (Hiroko Kamata), a minor tarento (presenter) working on the show.
She is known for her interest in the otaku sphere, and as here has apparently at times shown off “her” illustrations on the show.
Call it a trace, an outright copy, or whatever, it seems almost undeniably based on the manga… Not a major piece of plagiarism, especially compared to what we have seen before, but hardly seemly, especially without any attribution, and on TV.

damn.
smaller boob isn't right.
The traced drawing doesn't have much sex appeal to me.
Well, she's cute at least.
Why is she wearing ayanami rei's uniform in the cosplay picture.
did she announced on TV that she drew that or did she told to TV land that she based it on the To Love Ru manga?
Hiroko.... fail
all artists start by copying others right?
Maybe by taking it as a reference, but not when you trace it over, but on TV and say its yours and make profit out of it. Thats just wrong.
This. Tracing and claiming as your own is bad enough, but most tracers are 12 year old kids who don't know any better. An adult who copies and makes a profit from it is just low.
It reminds me of the time when I took part in exposing a thirtysomething woman on DeviantArt (NatsukiOrosi or something close to that was her monicker) who was in the habit of applying a few photoshop filters to eroge CG and claiming them as their own. Oddly enough the fans of her "works" never questioned her wildly varying drawing style.
Anyway ... let's just say it's a very bad idea to upload a slightly altered picture of a prepubescent character from a porn game and claim it as your own, especially when tens of thousands of people can produce pictures of the exact same character, drawn by the same original artist, getting raeped by an obese otaku stereotype.
Or slow.
This sounds entertaining...
Now I remember - it was NatsukiOrsiko. http://natsukiorsiko.deviantart.com/ still lists her as banned, a pity all her "Waah waah why won't anyone believe me" journal entries were deleted along with the rest of her account. Googling may reveal a homepage, though if she's got two braincells she'll have changed her name since.
O_O WOW...
Eh, I wouldn't call it a trace, used To Love-Ru as a basis yes, lots of artists do this with live models.
Still, could have done something to try and make it more original.
she wearing a hat in the copy, isn't that original enough?
No, what are you, her publicist? There are a few key differences in design, but the body structure and layout remain the same.
If she wanted to be original, she could have switched arms or rose one of the knees or different hair style, or make it a dude.
Anything to make it not a copy.
I think he was being sarcastic.
indeed
