Famitsu seem to have it in for the Tales series – whilst they have frequently featured the games on their covers, the artist they retain to provide these illustrations leaves much to be desired in a number of areas…
Their new Tales of Hearts cover is but the latest in a long line of such covers:
Presumably someone, somewhere, must like him a lot? Or perhaps he is simply an acquired taste?
The man responsible for these works is 松下進 / Susumu Matsushita – he has an artbook out if you are enamoured of his style.

Uh, last I checked, Matsushita was pretty famous and respected. He does magazine covers all the time.
sigh~ i agree with "Anonymous" the artist who drew those artworks is VERY skillful...its his unique style that makes famitsu's covers look more well.....unique its like the work of tetsuya nomura how is responsible for creating the final fantasy characters!

This artist has been around for a _long_ time and has done damn near all the covers for the venerable gaming mag Famitsu.

I remember reading a profile of him in Diehard Gamefan in the early 90's. (Remember that mag? No? Goddamn kids.) Half the reason for his popularity there is that he isn't just Generic Anime-Style Artist #38575.
Trying a little too hard to be an oldfag there.
That artist needs to be dragged onto a street and shot for this insult to the tales games.
