Russian youth orientated animation channel 2X2’s broadcasts of school anime Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) is being accused of propagandising in favour of child pornography and prostitution by a state censorship body.
The body complains that the anime includes close-ups on female crotches, sexual perversion, child pornography, violence and cruelty. Viewership looks set to soar with this endorsement.
A member of the censorship committee, Rossvyazkomnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision in Communications and Mass Communications), Vladimir Annushkin, has this to say:
“It isn’t explicitly laid out, but this work is paedophilia propaganda. There’s plenty of humour, so viewers may come to think that prostitution and theft are acceptable.”
However, the censors seem unlikely to have their way, as previously they complained about violence in South Park, broadcast on the same station, which resulted in the station being ordered to re-examine its content, but in no further action. The station’s broadcast license is yet valid for some 5 years, it is said.
A 2X2 spokesperson claims that they have heard the body’s opinions, but have not received any formal censure.
Sony Entertainment, owner of maker Studio Pierrot and parent Aniplex, in turn says that the anime has been broadcast internationally before, with no problems emerging whatsoever. It was attempting to tackle social problems at the time it was made, and has no immoral intent, they say.

If they are complaining about GTO then I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they don't watch much anime.
How old are they do you think? It was USSR when they were young. Most of them don't really want to understand WTF is it anyway. However screaming in loud voices to "save the children" (or whatever else for that matter)... that's for sure. Well, "save the children" is good, I know, but those are only words.
Those that are younger are interested in anime though. Well, some of them of course.

It's kinda funny because there is no real and strict censorship with this things in Russia. I guess, the problem is because of they simply thought about it like animation for children. That's it.
Really? Onizuka!? GTO teaches lots of things, like how being a gangster is cool, or how violence solves all and if you just be badass enough, everything will sort of work out.

Well I just have to say that they should have read the background of the story first of GTO. It's more on comedy than loli, heck even the girls there aren't loli looking. I'm more willing to agree banning it GTO if they said Onizuka is running naked with his crotch censored.
Saying that about GTO is completely stupid, it's a comedy, not a morality parade.

In Russia is very very many fans/otaku of anime/ecchi/hentai. But TV don't show anime. Only 2x2 show little.

Well, there's a lot of stuff going on around that 2x2 TV channel nowadays. Earlier they tried to ban 2x2 from airing South Park, but failed. So i wonder,whether it is an anime question or is it just some feud between the body and the channel owners?

Right now not a lot of manga published in Russia (Ranma, Fushigi Yuugi, Ai Yori Aoshi, Gunslinger Girl, Petshop of Horrors and some more..) and our "moralists" already says that in Gunslinger Girl there are a lot of violence. We have our little "war" to explain that anime and manga isn't for childrens only :)
Actually GTO in tv animation is more soft than in manga. so what the censors for? When head gangster decided to be a teacher because the only purpose to find wife among junior school girl, that's the story make better and better with that kind of joke and how onizuka solved his problem.
They should also watch and read DMC~Detroid Metal City (not Devil May Cry lol). More vurgar word "F**K"
As posted above, we, russians don't really care about that stupid channel that broadcasts dubbed anime. Nearly all of us download anime and then watch it subbed or raw. Whatever those idiots may think of GTO, they clearly do not understand a thing about anime. They can ban broadcast for all I care. We can download or buy it online ANYtime. I bet that not even 1% of russian otaku watch anime on TV, simply because all of us share the same opinion: dubbed anime sucks!
Well, my point is: stop listening to those idiots that have nothing more interesting to do. Russian otaku love anime no less that others ^___^

For some reason they want GTO to be banned/censored, but we (Im Russian) still have STS channel. So, they have nearly pedophilia TV shows for teenagers. One is about "girl rock-band" (teacher + 16 years old girl-student) and another one (Ive already forgot the name) - there's woman-teacher and 16 years old boy.
For some reason that couples have a lot of girl-fans in our country... Phew.
