Neon Genesis Evangelion’s iconic female leads Asuka Langley Sohryu and Rei Ayanami receive what must rank as one of their most striking, and erotic, figure adaptations to date, with a most original design, owing much to the great Shunya Yamashita.
E2046 were kind enough to provide some agreeably detailed shots of the figures:
Both figures share the same construction, as you might expect; they are large and well built 1/6 scale (26cm) garage kits. Simple assembly, but mercifully no painting, is required.
The custom base is a very nice touch, both from an aesthetic perspective, and likely a marketing perspective too.
Asuka here is undeniably stunning:
Asuka is on sale for some $130.
The reimagining of the plugsuits, which already have a considerable following, in this manner is rather striking. As is the careful, and not excessive, move towards realism in the sculpting.
Few would have a problem with the traditional anime stylings, but in the case of this duo, it is almost overdone. Now if only the same could be done for Haruhi and company…
I’m afraid bandages aren’t really to my taste, but otherwise this is an undeniably appealing Rei:

As you can see from the base, the pair are very much intended as a pair (though of course you could just display them on different bases); so much so, in fact, that there is a modest discount for buying them as a set.
Even should their designs not be to your liking, I think you’ll agree it is nice to see such original takes on characters who have become a figure staple, perhaps even staid.
Much the same could be said for the realistically sculpted Yoko we saw recently, so seeing any more such figures should be a pleasure.

With all these odd figures coming out, its easy to forget that they're like 14
I think you're missing the point of them being "reimagined" (in this case clearly as adults)...
There are already hundreds of depictions of them in every type of costume possible.

Ich have another Version of Rei, the Creators Labo, which could not be naked. But I want that Asuka *_*
The Rei figure design is made the great (ero) artist Shunya Yamashita.
Therefore she looks adult. E2046 make the Asuka look by themself.

just to clarify something, the news here is that E2046 are the guys who made the figure right?
cause i've seen that rei figure a long time ago, and as far as i remember the details were much better, maybe made some other company?
It's had multiple runs. E2046's branding is frankly confusing so I hesitate to comment further on that...
I adore both designs, especially Asuka's, but I am just hoping a non-pre painted version of Asuka comes out soon - I already have the non-painted Rei resin kit which I bought primarily to have as a set with Asuka.
It exist a Rei figure similar to that, but without bandages. Is almost in the same position.
Asuka looks a little bit weird in her face.
