The sixth and latest opening of the grand Project Touhou only event, 博麗神社例大祭 / Hakurei Jinja Reitaisai, which is on track to unseat Comiket as the nation’s largest event if current trends continue, has been announced as falling on March the 8th, 2009.
The growth that Reitaisai has enjoyed already forced it to move to Japan’s largest event space, the Big Sight, and this is where the sixth will be held, assuming it can fit. Pilgrims will find further details announced at a later date.
Presumably there is an upper limit to the growth thhis event can enjoy, though it still seems to be far from reaching it?
Touhou now has its own festival,Reitaisai. The same as Comiket. Only 1 man worked,ZUN abled to achieve that and later on with other teams.Because of that, Touhou now became most popular games/animes in Japan.
Things like these usualy grow fast in popularity when they are new. And Touhou itself has been growing in popularity over the few last years. I belive Reitasai will become as big as comiket but the growth won’t continue for too much longer. There may even be a downfall soon. But it will still be really huge.
As for the manga and anime industries that was writen in the other reitasai article.
There are a few mangaes that ar ongoing at the moment. But i don’t think ZUN is intrested in making an anime for the series.
“And, on that note, there’s lots of talk about “what if there were a Touhou anime”, but it’s not likely to happen – a new medium would require a new plot and new characters and all of that work *plus* the work of actually doing the animation would be just way too much for one person (even though some people DO do it alone). In addition, involving lots of other people would make questions like copyright a lot more complex, so his philosophy is that it’s best just to leave it be.”

Who doesn’t think he will change his tune as soon as a studio offers him 100,000,000 Yen for his blessing.
And nobody with any sense is suggesting he should personally be involved in the animation and similar… The illustrations in the original games are dire enough.
The crafty devil is probably just waiting for the price to ramp up.

By ‘sharing’ you mean to ‘introduce Touhou to unwanted elements of the western anime fandom’ too, right?
*shivers*
You think touhou is popular because it’s ‘all Japanese?’ ha ha ha
Stop deluding yourself. Why don’t you turn your television on and watch the Nikkei index plummet some more. Sharing is what made Touhou great, not that crappy selfish hording as you are trying to imply.
I don’t want Touhou having an anime. It would do wonders for the series but then it would also provide an easy way to introduce Touhou to unwanted elements of the western anime fandom.
I really don’t think you want Zun to have anything to do with art. Every episode will probably end in them having fucking tea
