As we heard, the latest instalment in the titanic (literally in the case of the main characters) Fist of the North Star franchise is 北斗の拳 天の覇王ラオウ外伝 / Hokuto no Ken – Ten no Haou – Raou Gaiden, a story eschewing usual protagonist Kenshiro in favour of telling the tale of Raoh’s rise to power.
Or more accurately, it tales the tale of another man who makes heads explode and knocks down buildings with his fists.
Masses of blood and exploding heads – it wouldn’t be Fist of the North Star without it.
Also mild service elements.
Animation is reasonable, seiyuu work is amusing as ever for a North Star title, and the overblown swaggering visuals are frequently quite stylish.
There is some quite tongue in cheek humour present for the observant, like Raoh pretending to be a minstrel. Very amusing.
I’m not sure how seriously most take these titles; whether you take them seriously or not, they are still entertaining. Fans of the series in particular will want to watch this, as well as anyone looking for a bloody carnage anime for a change.

Good ol’ Hokuto no Ken. Always puts a smile on my face. And a fist in your ass.

kenshiro lives only in manga, this is total fail
So this Raoh guy is the antagonist in the original story?
One of them, there were all sorts. He was one of the more sympathetic.
