I can’t help but wonder what proportion of these are photoshopped, if any? Certainly some are perfectly plausible, but as for others…
some of these look like they filled in old doorways or were going to put a balcony or porch on, or filled in what used to be a hallway.

Buildings with trees in them do exist. It is often illegal to cut down the trees so they build their house around it instead.
Likely, most of these pics are from Russia. Very typical, I can see something like this virtually everyday.
All this are mostly results of reconstruction that is either under progress or stopped due to the lack of money
