A young man (19) who threatened to stab a seiyuu, thought to be 茅原実里 / Minori Chihara (or みのりん / Minorin), who provides, amongst many others, the voices of Yuki Nagato and Minamike’s Chiaki, has been arrested.
On investigation, he was found to have made a post to a board, from a public computer at a community centre on the 29th of August, saying with reference to the seiyuu: “Die! On the 30th I’ll stab her with a knife!”
Police sprung on the man a month later, arresting him on suspicion of making the death threat. He admits to his crime.
The threat came to light when the seiyuu’s vigilant manager spotted the post, and reported it to police.
There is some doubt over the identity of the target of the threat; the only information released was that the seiyuu in question is 27; this rather narrows it down, and it generally seems to be thought Minori Chihara is the most likely target (there are not so many possibilities).
She has not officially disclosed her age, but it can be verified easily enough.

Seiyuu fans are given to extremes of behaviour at times, and this is certainly isn’t the first time such an unfortunate threat has been made. Fortunately, their handlers seem adept at keeping them safe.

He'd have to get through me, and probably an army of other people first. I'm sure we'd be a hell of alot more bloodthirsty than him too.
You'd be one of her many stalkers, then?
ROFL. Ouch.
Also, thank god for her manager. God save the Minorin!
We prefer the term "unpaid yet dedicated bodyguards."
So exclusive, not even Minorin knows we're there...in her bushes...with cameras...at 1AM...in the rain.
Yes, because her safety is our life... Amoung other things...
I don't get these people's obsession with voice actors.
Hang on, maybe it was the manager that was the one who's planning to stab her. JUST AS KEIKAKU'D.
Sorry, i blame Sunrise for my sudden lapse.
Threatening to kill a seiyuu is lower than low.
Writers of bad shows, creators of mean-spirited eroge, and the rapper 50 Cent however...
LMAO!
"rapper 50 cent however..."
The last time someone tried this stunt on Nana Mizuki, the police also acted swiftly to catch the culprit.
I can't help but agree with Kageryu. To get to people like Nana or Minorin would involve getting through their personal guard aka their thousands of fans, all baying for blood.
The would-be assassin clearly forgot one of the basic rules. Leave the small weapons to the pros; the less skill you have, the bigger your gun should be, and the farther you should be from the target. Start with a large-caliber sniper rifle and several hundred yards. Work your way to smaller guns and shorter ranges. Most people, if they tried, could maybe reach the level of using a carbine at a few dozen yards; only true pros will find success with a knife and up-close.
Disclamer: I am not a violent creep, I've just watched "The professional" one time too many. Heck, I don't even own a gun. Nor do I intend to, in the foreseeable future.
The thing is, guns are illegal in Japan. Unless you are in the Yakuza, you are not getting a gun.
So I guess the person was just trying to use what he could.
Thankfully. Because of that law, minorin-chan is alive and well.
So that's why there was all that security surrounding her at Daicon.
Not mine Nagato seiyuu you freak D: !!!!!!
