The animators for Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 seem to be producing some interesting work lately. You can see above and below their unique visual style, at times reminscent of one of the masters of abstract art.

From episode 20:
He menaces with a camera-like thing? Also, note that the guard seems to have disappeared from frame.
Via Hachimaki. Interesting to see if they’ll fix these for the DVD…

hahahaha! maybe i can help shed some light on this issue, since i've seen this done in person.
since these shots are wide, the character are drawn alot smaller on the paper. in japan, animators draw on a 9 field sized paper. this is considerably smaller than their american 12 field counterpart. if the drawings are that small, there is only so much information that can be drawn and scanned in.
some ways to solve is to draw on a bigger piece of paper. which would be hard because they would need to re-register the characters to the background and animate on a poster-size paper.
That's very infromative, thanks for explaining!
I presume this kind of thing ceases to be an issue when the animation is done on a computer...
Hahaha oh man...that's just terrible. I'm forgiving, however. We DO, after all, get an episode every week.
I guess when you are drawing 24 frames per second you don't have time for small details. You'll always have a time budget when making a weekly show.
At least it's better than Naruto where all you get is pan and zooms on a still frame the whole episode.
Cornelia-sama! Man that was lulzy.
It also seems her collar is mysteriously opening and closing from frame to frame.
Looking at this, i want to ask all the idiots again : do you people REALLY need those HD anime translations ?
HD Live TV is also pretty horrible, been able to see every pimple and all the badly applied make-up on the faces of the so-called "stars"...ugh
I remember in the episode where Spinzaku suggested coup d'tat, Gino's eyes were very out of sync...
lol trust the good old japanese to point this out.
well, the offending scenes are kinda insignificant to begin with. besides, the overall animation quality is way better than most anime in this genre... one piece comes to mind...
Code Geass is a shounen? News to me.
What genre are you talking about? Geass ain't nothing like One Piece. I mean its like comparing Death Note to Naruto...
nice catch!
what a way to cut corners
