She's not fat by the average person's definition, but by the idol industry. She's a seiyuu that got thrust into being somewhat a celebrity, so its easy to imagine her being pressured to adopt their standards of "healthiness".

It's because of the media.
Just look at her rivaling 2d idols, they're anatomically underweight. Idols have to be better than real.

What the hell? If she dieted any more she'd become anorexic. I don't know what goes on in the mind of women, but I think Aya should have a little more confidence. She's cute, she's popular, and she's pretty thin.

She wants to get rid of that little paunch, perhaps. Many young stars have a tendency to eating disorders and fixation on food. That's what comes of knowing that people are always staring at your body. In fact, most seiyuu have had posts something like this in their blogs. I don't think it means much. As long as she keeps up her strength with fish (easy to do in Japan) all will be well. Don't want her to go back to the days when she collapsed, in late 2006, and embarked on a diet to build up her strength. Anyway, even a full vegetarian diet can be perfectly healthy.

So that's super ridiculous, I figured it was a joke until I clicked on the link to her blog. I really hope that she was saying what she said facetiously. She's an absolutely beautiful example of what a woman should be, and as for her "paunch", I think she's pretty perfect the way she is. I'd rather see an actress with a healthy, realistic look than someone that is a rail with two saline/silicone sacks attached. Poor Aya-chan, keep your chin up.....
