Perhaps overshadowing the actual release of the Comiket 74 catalogue is the illustration provided by master illustrator Tony for the cover of the hardcopy company pamphlet. Doubtless not all of the supply of this particular catalogue will be going to enterprises as intended…
The digital catalogue does come with a fine Melon Books mouse mat, if you buy from there. But the cover itself leaves something to be desired, in comparison to the the above:
If seeing more pictures of piles of books being nursed by shop assistants appeals, then you are well served here.
The hat ! The hat of the green haired girl….
I think he layered it wrongly…
-_-
Tony sure is careless …
Lolz… Tony… if you ask me, he is probably the best character illustrator in the decade. All his artwork definitely will stop anyone on their track to stare long at his artwork.
I disagree, range murata has a style and beauty to his work that main stream style stuff like this (although extremely well done) will never compare to, I personally would put at least fifty others above tony if not more. like okama, range murata, yoshitoshi ABe, HACCAN, Shigeki Maeshima etc.
everything about his work is extremely well done, but his style is used by hundreds of people, and there are at least ten or more other less known people with the same style, and nearly as well done art out there. if you look into robot you’ll find many (in my opinion) better artists.
