Full Metal Alchemist II?

The recently leaked and rather controversial Bones animator list has been disowned by Bones as not being an internal company document, however as Moon Phase rightly points out, they have not touched upon the genuineness of the information contained within (the personal details are thought to be genuine), nor shed any light on the provenance of the document.
Contained within the document is reference to an title by the name of 鋼の錬金術師 原作版 仮 / Hagane no Renkinjutsushi Original Work Version (provisional). Might this be an as yet unannounced FMA project? Unfortunately there seems to be too little information to say at this stage.
It may not be able to exceed the level of promising rumour until the veracity of the file is ascertained, but it is certainly an interesting proposition, and one which might make a lot of sense if it were to take the form of a manga based version (since currently the franchise is unexploitable because of the anime version having closed off the story, whilst the manga continues to go strong).

The manga is a lot different from the anime in a lot of ways. The plot is a bit more standard shonen (well not REALLY, but you don't get the kinda historical references and otherworld hopping like in the anime) and it lacks a few of the things that made the anime really worthwhile. Opinions vary greatly though, since some swear by the manga and others don't.
Let's not forget the very real possibility of a Darker Than BLACK sequal, which was also mentioned in said document and is probably causing more discussion cause it's much more likely (and makes a bit more sense)
You are of course correct about that, though I would hesitate to say either look likely until more details on where this curious document came from emerge.
A two year old article finally confirms that the higher-ups at animation companies are douchebags, and almost criminally so...
So...
This became the movie or Brotherhood?
I'm fine whatever they do, if they bring FMA back with the quality the original anime had (not the movie, which I honestly disliked).
I've only seen the anime though, do you guys suggest reading the manga too? Is it going on a lot from where the anime finishes? Is it worthwhile?
Did you see the the new statue Kotobukiya is making?
Check it out on Kumo's blog

I've actually only read the manga (all of it three times in Japanese), and I'd have to rank it as an A rank manga (up there with Berserk, Claymore, Gunmu, etc.), although I do realise the anime is extremely high quality.
It really makes the anime seem abbreviated, as it continues on in huge depth where te anime had to tie things up, and of course it is still ongoing. Highly recommended.
