Cosplay Makes it into the Dictionary

0147

It seems the influence of Japanese culture continues to make inroads; we hear that the Concise Oxford English Dictionary has in its latest revision added the word “cosplay” to its pages, defining it uncontroversially as dressing up as Japanese anime and manga characters, etc.

As Jabro points out, this does leave open the question of whether the definition includes non-Japanese cosplay, but the “etc” would seem to cover that. This is reported in the pages of a recent edition of the Nikkei Shimbun.

Finally, the obligatory link to the Cosplay Elite Gallery.
