As you may have noticed, there have been some disruptions to Sankaku Complex’s hosting, basically a consequence of healthy traffic growth: in this respect I suppose it could it could be taken as an indicator of success, but I must still offer my apologies to those inconvenienced; your forebearance and understanding in this matter are greatly appreciated.
The change in platform (it is a mystery to me how Apache became market leader considering its abysmal performance in certain situations, and I also find it strange that opcode caching isn’t a standard feature of PHP) should be able to accommodate future growth without difficulty, and will enable continued improvements, so hopefully no further problems will be evident. If you do happen to have any problems or suggestions, please do not hesitate to make them known.

Before you defend Apache, consider how it got it's name. It was not a tribute to the great Native American nation, no. It is a joke on how the beast is require one patch and then another and then an another (A-patch-y server).
Now, it has matured and is more stable than in the past and you cannot beat the price (free). Still, it is NOT the best design in the world for all cases.
I support the Open Source movement but the A-patchy server is what it is and is more every single penny you pay for. Only, maybe it worth more, but you CAN do better.
Apache? Well, before you criticize Apache, try a few of the others. Apache has it's position because it IS superior in most ways to ALL the other contenders. Others may have one or two features in which they shine, but overall, they can't better Apache.
I just tried one of the others and it cut memory and CPU usage in half... The server doesn't run out of memory and crash every few hours either.
It seems to me that Apache does not cut it on a site with moderate to high traffic and lots of PHP; even if you have to pay for performance server software, more efficient utilisation of hardware more than recoups the difference.
Of course it can always be argued that performance is only "one or two features"...
