Why is it holding a leek? For that matter, why does Miku hold a leek? Whatever the answer to these important questions, this is a great looking figure, as expected of a figure a year in development; apparently it also has a lot of die cast parts, hence the metallic finish. Not cheap either.
There seem to be a lot of these being released considering how long ago Stand Alone Complex finished… how long till the first robotic version, I wonder?
More shots at Akiba Hobby.
Incidentally, the leek is sold separately…
Posting in an antique thread…
It’s not based on Bleach – that’s unrelated.
It started with OS-tans, particularly ME-tan, who would often be seen with a leek because the Japanese name for it is “negi” and there was an antivirus program called “NEGiES”. It only makes sense that as a software product herself, Miku would carry one for protection as well – though I suspect ME-tan was the only one to do it because she misunderstood…
About Miku holding leek, it actually start from this video posted : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG_kz6Sp500 , which in turn, originated from this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVTQaA2kV3w
Sorry about that – links tripped a moderation alert. Will fix.
I heard about the how the meme originated (not the spinner bit), but I hadn’t bothered to watch until now – I can see why it caught on! It still doesn’t answer the “why” though, only the how?
“Why” eh? Maybe to follow what Orihime do(in the 2nd link i post)?
the actual episode is; Orihime is crossing the road and she is almots hit by a car, and drops her shopping. and as she is picking it up Ichigo (or one of her friends walks by.
and she has the leek in her hand and spins it once as she spaces out while talking to him.
after that it was looped and music was added.
IIRC she was talking about another strange dish she was going to make that evening, and it involved leeks.
But why does she have a leek? I take it that it is random strangeness that is the reason for that part being used?
