A housewife (25) was arrested on suspicion of attempting to sell five obscene pictures of herself, soliciting customers via online forums, we hear. She apparently committed the grievous act of saving five naked photographs of herself onto her memory card, taken with her mobile, and these were seized upon her arrest. She was offering them for ¥5,000 for 5, certainly a high price, but criminally high?
“There were some clothes I wanted, so I needed some pocket money.” The housewife apparently had quite the entrepreneurial streak, earning ¥10 million with sales to a hundred customers over three years; not a bad haul.
Police are currently analysing the seized memory cards for signs of videos, tissues close to hand no doubt. Via Asahi. Alas, the pictures in question have not yet surfaced…
Why on earth was she arrested for this? It seems Japanese porn companies, to say nothing of prostitutes, can get away with rather a lot more…

I don’t understand why this is illegal, isn’t this just Playboy in the west?
I don’t get it why arrest her did she fail to report taxes?
Even in the US that would not result in an arrest they’d make her pay back taxes for unreported income but there would be no jail time.
Jailing someone would cost you more money then the back taxes on that amount of which would kinda defeat the whole concept of enforcing taxes.
I’m assuming a Japanese prison is every bit as expensive as a US one maybe more so considering land costs more there.
To lock someone up in the US for a year it ends up costing the state somewhere between $21,000 and $36,000 USD a year.
Considering the fact the Japanese government is deep in debt and has no idea how to fund it’s pension system it would be better to simply raid her bank account and allow her to continue working vs put her in prison.
Apparently, the government wants its cut, i.e. taxes and she didn’t pay up.
